I fully agree Ottawa isn't doing this deal, but Scandella does not have negative value, and certainly not so much as to cost a 2nd. The price for Tarasenko is Scandella is way higher than 3d three years from now. Cmon.

It's a meh prospect, a fringe NHLer (Walman's already 25 - you can't consider him a prospect anymore), and neither 1st is in 2022. It's not at all enticing enough of a return to get NSH to package up two of their most valuable players (with retention) to a divisional rival.

Maybe after all this, Tank doesn’t get traded at all.

At this point VT might not net you much for 21--22. if he has to move the STL is going to take a bath on his value.

I'd rather have Scandella than Del Zotto but you're right, the logjam on the LEFT would be bad, especially with Sanderson stepping in this spring.
It would IMMEDIATELY require Del Zotto traded, J Brown likely clears and goes to BEL (called up if needed), and Brannstrom moved to the right.
IF ALL OF THAT were possible I'd pay the TBL 2022 2nd + VAN 2022 3rd + OTT 2023 2nd.
Then Holden traded at the deadline to make room for Sanderson.

I'm not disagreeing, it's just that, Ottawa already needs to trade one defenceman, this trade makes that situation worse. I'm not arguing value of trade, I'm disagreeing with the logic of even offering it in the first place, it makes absolutely no sense. They didn't bother to take Ottawa's situation into account.

On a secondary note, Tarasenko's value to STL fans is very different than Tarasenko's value to any team he's being traded to here. One side or the other will say the offer is not enough or too much. Trading Tarasenko here is just silly. It's just creates contentious responses. I tried to take the easy way out in why it's not a good trade offer, but in all honesty, it's bad in several respects, most notably because Ottawa is a rebuilding team that's still 2-3 years from going deep in the playoffs, and Tarasenko doesn't fit their timeline.,

Dickinson is an ok prospect. I don't think he'll make the NHL though and would be behind a couple of our other center prospects further limiting his chances.

Walman is 25 and no longer a "prospect". He doesn't displace any of our other LHD prospects. Maybe he's a late bloomer but typically if they're going to make a NHL impact they've done it by now.

The 1sts are fine but the wrong years. Nashville wouldn't trade their best trade chips without atleast getting a 2022 1st.
