I'd keep Jost

Honestly I agree. I did this to see what it would like. And after doing I don't think it makes sense. But as I did it I figured I'd post anyway to see what people say

Jost has turned into a great bottom 6 centre with top 6 plug in ability, it's true that newhook is going to be given the opportunity to play top but it doesn't mean that jost is a failure.. drouin is they guy that can't consistently play well and sat out the playoffs, colorado doesn't want him

I'm not a Habs fan but I thought Drouin was out for personal reasons and not with the team?

Regardless looking at your insane wing depth I think a trade for a #4-5 Rd makes sense, no?

Jost is vital to the avs PK and bottom 6 as he turned into a great 3C mid way through last season. When he moved from the wing to 3C, he had something like a 0.5ppg pace for the last 26 games when he moved their full time.

no bc you have Byram on the bench which would never happen, Girard and Byram both can play the right side, and the Avs have Barron in the AHL who looked impressive when he got there.

Word is he sat out because the MTL media/fan base was bullying him on social media for inconsistent play...

This year i think they plan on having:
Toews-makar
Girard-johnson
Byram-murray
Macdonald-mcdemid
Jack johnson-barron

They could probably add someone when johnson and murray get their enviable injuries

I don't get to see much Colorado as id like (your team is so fun) but his advanced stats show a pretty steep decline the last couple years...

EJ has been hurt a lot and is really just a 3rd pair guy at this point but could be good in that role and in somewhat limited minutes. If he can stay healthy, he can bring a lot to the team, especially in terms of some size and on the PK but he's not a minute-muncher or much of an offensive threat at this point.

Agree that it's an easy decline but I would label Jost as an adequate 3C although he got eaten alive in the Vegas series (to be fair, he had a crazy amount of D-zone starts compared to O-zone starts but he didn't win a single draw in the D-zone). I'd like to see what he could do at 2LW with Kadri and Bura and have Newhook play at 3C - if they see him as the future 2C, he needs to play as a C. I realize Jost doesn't have a great shot but he's a decent passer so if he helps with set-ups, maybe it could work. Otherwise, put him at 3LW with Newhook at C and Nuke at RW.

EJ gets hurt alot but when he's healthy he has glimpses of why he was drafted 1st overall and then he has average defensive play the rest of the time, second or third pairing doesn't really matter with bednar as I've come to find he rotates guys through each pairing every game.. girard makar, the toews makar with girard on the right with graves on the left.. whomever is playing the best will see the most time regardless of pairings

True but my point on him and Newhook still stands - Newhook needs to be playing C and Jost might be a good option to play on the 2nd line.

Jost is terrible. Put JD in Landy's spot and move 92 to center.
