I thought our one glaring hole was a third pairing, right-shot defenseman for the right side. I guess they could conceivable improve by adding another forward, but I would assume they're going to look at that third pairing slot on that side. I haven't heard rumors about this - just my own conjecture - but I am surprised that both Demers and Vatannan haven't been signed yet. It's possible that they don't want to play in Canada or in Montreal. However, those would be two players that I would be looking into if I were Bergevin. I guess they could look into Eric Gudbranson, but I think that may even be a downgrade from Wideman. Same with Michael Stone.

TBH I’m not in love with it but I value it as Beaudin = Romanov, Harris for Kalynuk, 2nd to dump Kulak. and 2 2nds (Mysak + other second) for Strome retained. I don’t think either team makes this trade because they both prefer their own prospects… but it’s not the worst I’ve seen in terms of trade values. Personally I would replace either Mysak or the other 2nd with Tuch, but that’s just my preference right now.

In the Chicago trade you get your guy who can play 3rd pairing RD in Kalynuk. He’s like Gus in that he’s left handed but can play the right side.

I get that. I just know that it's easier for a right-shot player to play on the right side, as it's easier to defend passing lanes and much easier to start a break-out. You are correct: there have been left-shot players who have made the switch to the right-side, which would that player an added one-timer option. When in doubt, I trust Hockey Canada's model of always having right-shot players play on the right, and left-shot players on the left (unless you're on a power play). I've never seen Kalynuk play: maybe he's one of the exceptions.

I'm giving Mysak because he fits chicago shot system and i'd rather have Beaudin over kulak and Romanov. As for Strome the scenery change can benefit both. I'm building a mini team canada system where Ducharme play pace up with stud in the back, romy is too distract for such and Kulak is good but not enough to play 82 games in a row. Building around with Kalynuk who play both side can also help with the Ghule, Norlinder in the d-corp.

At least value is there I guess.

He seems to be the kind to be able to do so, way more better than Romanov and Kulak at least, so i'm willing to try it. He also has more passing skill than Kulak and for a D-corp like our ir's a need.
