This is the exact worst possible way to handle trading Erik Brannstrom. Trading a very high upside prospect to bring in bottom of the lineup depth makes absolutely no sense at all.

DDK doesn't have that much value.

Taking Komarov as a dump will get a pick or a prospect but not both.

Ottawa is rebuilding and they aren't going to give up much to get Stecher since he's a UFA at the end of the season. From what I've seen in Ottawa ACGMs they will probably want Rasmussen for Brown.

I think Namestnikov does get traded at the TDL but I don't see him going to Washington.

I'm not sure I'd call Fabbri a bottom of the lineup depth. He's middle 6 at the worst and a high character guy entering his prime that would play nicely with Ottawa's young skill. Stetcher again is a character guy with a strong work ethic that can provide some offense. I agree more should come from Detroit but it's pretty close and definitely not the worst.

Ottawa doesn't have room for two more defencemen on one-way contracts, while giving up the flexibility of two defencemen that are still waivers exempt, that would put them at nine 1-way contracts on defence.

Trades have to make sense for both teams

I just don't think this trade does anything to replace the high upside skill Ottawa would give up in Brannstrom. Fabbri and Stecher are useful players, but in my opinion you need to get high end talent back when you trade high end talent out. I think Brannstrom will be a monster OFD in the NHL. If you move a piece like that you need to get back either a prospect with comparable upside or you package him off for top six help right now

None of these make sense.
- I can't see Ottawa making that deal
- DeKeyser's health is still a question mark, no one is trading for him
- If a Komarov cap dump was going to happen, it likely would have by now. Even if it does, it will come with a 2nd round pick, nothing less, nothing more.
- Retaining on Namestikov makes zero sense
- Why would we trade Lindstrom? We protected him for a reason. He is a very good shut down/PK guy and fills a big need for that role on the right side

Ottawa doesn't achieve anything here

That's just getting rid of 2 very good prospects for short term help
