I can't believe they replaced their top pair D and present/future #1 goalie with a ridiculously overpriced, unproven forward and had to give up two picks to do so. Waddell really threw it all away this summer lol. Would've been better off trading picks and Bokk for Laine or something. Anything other than what they ended up doing.

Keeping Ned wasn't much of an option given the circumstances.
Would have taken less than a 1st and 3rd to get another goaltender and keep Hamilton however. Bobby Ryan could be replaced with any 2 league minimum guys here. Lots of options and some UFAs still available.

The problem was never paying everyone this year. Next year will be a problem. Re-signing Necas, Trocheck, Bear, a Top 6 forward, and 5 other depth for 20 million isn't easy(close to impossible), even if you use Jarvis as the top 6 forward

Could have, but weren't willing to give him a decent salary and he had arbitration rights. I don't blame them for wanting to go after a starter with a larger sample size, but for the sake of about $3M it was worth the risk short term to keep him, even if he's in the backup role.

Ned wanted 4.5-5 million from us not 3.
