Varly will want more, and deserves more, use some of the extra money on him

Dobson will be on the top pairing by 22-23. Wilde definitely won’t be ahead of him

they should just let him walk and worry about paying iyla in a years time

He will be going into his 35+ contract years. If he wants more, the Islanders should move on. Sorokin will be the #1 moving forward, at least that is the plan.



Dobson won't be replacing Pulock as long as Trotz is here. I had him on the 2nd pairing to split the rookies so each one has a vet pairing. They will all likely get similar minutes anyway.

If Dobson doesn’t get 2nd pairing minutes soon it will stifle his development. Eventually Dobson will overtake Pulock as the #1. He should be on the 2nd pairing for the next 2 years and then in 23-24 he should be on the top pair.

I also think Salo has a clearer path to the isles than Bolduc. He’s already 23 and he’s more of a two way defenseman with much higher upside than Bolduc.

Dobson is going to get more minutes regardless of what pairing he plays on because he's going to be replacing Leddy's minutes on the PP. Trotz rolls all three pairings roughly equal.

I disagree on Bolduc, strongly. That isn't a downplay on Salo though.

Bolduc will be strictly a defensive D in the NHL. He struggles to move the puck. He’s likely a #5 D in the NHL, Salo can be a #3 D, has PP1 upside.
