Description
The price I'd be willing to pay for Dvorak... don't care if it's not enough just stating this is the most I would pay.

Let's not kid ourselves, no one wanted to trade Kk for Dvorak straight up so flipping the compensation of a 1st and a 3rd for Dvorak would be a loss. If ARZ takes back a contract however, and they take the later of the two 1st round picks I'd argue it's enough to justify it for MTL.

If Arizona declines, I'm entirely fine with signing Bozak as a one year patch job while giving Drouin, Poehling, and Evans the chance at C.

Also if I knew for sure Weber was not returning I would work out a deal with Nashville. MTL gets him off their LTIR so they can accumulate cap space throughout a season, Nashville gets Weber back to avoid the recapture penalty. Win win for both teams... MTL has no interest in screwing Nashville over.

You consider Dvorak to have less value than Kotki?

Easy no from the Coyotes. Byron has negative value. Enjoy Bozak as your 2C!

You should try to send the Carolina picks straight up, you can't fit a cap dump in this trade

While you may think this is fair value for Dvorak, which it's not considering you put in an injury cap dump....you seem to forget that MB is in no position of power in any of these negotiations.....every team k owns this and Unfortunately if MB really wants a proven NHL C he's gonna have to pay up considerably.

Ya, as I said in the description. KK's 1.9 P/60 as an 18 year old rookie is almost the same as Dvorak's most productive season of 2.0 P/60 as a 23 year old... so ya I'd say Kotkaniemi has more upside.

I see Drouin as 2C, Poehling / Evans as 3C, Bozak as 4C (insurance in case Drouin and/or Poehling don't work out). I'm quite comfortable with that for this season, I understand why Arizona would say no, I'm more or less just making the point that MTL would be better off matching and keeping KK than overpaying for Dvorak.

Edit: Also as an FYI, Bozak put up 2.2 P/60 last year as a 34 year old which is better than any season of Dvorak's career. Bozak can also bring the same defensive game as Dvorak, at 35 years old I wouldn't expect him to play top 6 minutes but he's a solid bottom 6 C at this stage of his career.

I don't consider Byron to have negative value like everyone else around here. He's still useful and not grossly overpaid. Also he is on LTIR until January so half his salary is insured so Arizona wouldn't be paying much actual $$$. That's just my opinion and it's not going to change, I respect the opinion of people that feel he is a cap dump. At the end of the day I think it just comes down to do you need the cap space for anything else? If the answer is no, Paul Byron is a pretty insignificant cap hit IMO.

I don't think it is fair value. I'm simply illustrating the point that if MTL let's KK walk this should be the price they'd be willing to pay for Dvorak IMO.

I know MTL isn't in a position of strength... which is why they should not make any moves if they don't match KK until they know what they have in Drouin, Poehling, Evans, and even Carolina's 1st for that matter (there's always the chance they miss playoffs and it becomes a lottery pick).

Signing Tyler Bozak would be an upgrade over what Kotkaniemi provided MTL last year... so I don't see what all the fuss is. They need to replace KK long term, it doesn't have to happen right now.

Well, Byron is a 32-year-old veteran who hasn't been able to put up 20 points in the last two seasons. Yet, he is paid the same as, say, MacKenzie Weegar. You may think he isn't a cap dump, but the fact of the matter is that the Coyotes do not need him and could acquire assets for that 3,5M they'd take from some other team. That salary cap relief could be worth as much as a second in a flat cap world.

If you don't need the cap space for anything else, weaponize it, don't give it away for free.

I mean, even if it's a bit weak compared to other offers around CF, that's not far off

I'd have no problem to add one of our many LD prospects if it's all it needs. (edit : obviously not Guhle)

No way Bryon is a cap dump.
    Wears A on his jersey
    Great bottom 6 player.
Your not going to replace him.
