IMO Montreal should let Carolina have their 6 million dollar player. I'm thinking of next season and beyond and it really isn't worth screwing up Montreal's cap space over a revenge oversheet.

I don't mind the Dvorak trade. Personally, I think a 1st and Ylönen would get it done. I am not sure that the Canadiens want to get rid of Byron (he's outstanding on the PK and a locker room guy, albeit an overpaid one), but if they were to get rid of him, this would be a way to do it.

I'd try Mysak before Ylonen!

May I ask why you feel the need to trade Byron. You have 3.7 mil of cap space here...

I think it would take more to acquire Dvorak unfortunately. Replacing Byron with a 2nd is probably close.

Byron is worth keeping if cap isn't an issue, but keeping Poehling up means somebody has to go. He's simply the most expendable right now. He'll be out to start the season with Paquette and Perrault being cheaper options who will have a chance to lock in a roster spot. If Byron doesn't go, one of them has to.
Since Byron cleared waivers last season, we can also send him down with little fuss and call him up when needed.

If the trade off is Dvorak for KK, I would keep KK they are already at similar levels, a 1 year commitment is nothing especially when we have the space, KK's ceiling is higher and while the deal sucks this year and his QO is high we can work out a lower deal later then trade him for better assets than a mid to late 1st

Thats what I'm saying. Why pay assets to dump him if you have the cap space. Waive him again (clearing last year doesn't count), and he's either claimed or sent down.
