Louis Domingue a signé un contrat de 1 ans d'une valeur de 750 000 $ avec les Penguins de Pittsburgh, le 2 sept. 2021. Le contrat comporte un cap hit de 750 000 $.
I see the penguins have gotten serious about fixing their goaltending issues
He was arguably the best UFA goalie available.
Rask is a UFA but a) injured til 2022 and b) wishes to retire a Bruin - so isn’t available by any definition.
Dubnyk has never been an elite goalie and his play has fallen off a Cliff - or two - the past 2 seasons.
McElhinney was a solid NHL back-up til he ran into Father Time last year & will be lucky to get a PTO at this stage (although Craig Anderson got signed so who knows).
Jon Gillies has played a few NHL games and may have back-up potential but at best is a 3rd stringer after a rough season last year.
Other than that you have goalies that aren’t ready, and likely never will be ready, to play in the NHL:
Artyom Zagidulin
Jeremy Helvig
Evan Cormier
Cole Kehler
Jake Kielly
That’s it. Given what’s available - they’d have to give up assets in a trade or sign Domingue for league minimum.
