Joel Farabee a signé un contrat de 6 ans d'une valeur de 30 000 000 $ avec les Flyers de Philadelphie, le 2 sept. 2021. Le contrat comporte un cap hit de 5 000 000 $.
Bit of a gamble based on one season. Would have waited till the end of this season before giving him that kind of money and term. But if he can continue to perform like he did the previous season then its a good deal.
I didn't vote "No" but I think this is a lot of money for a guy who has basically the same figures as Max Comtois, who is getting less than half that, albeit for only half the term.

If he continues to perform like this he gets 7 million.

But as I said on Comtois post if I were able to double his salary and sign him to term I'd do it. I think it's worth the gamble.
Farabee has done very well so far. There's some risk to committing this much money right now, but if he doesn't falter, this contract could also become one of the league's best.
Me it’s a lot of money and term that could look bad in a couple years
If he sucks and they buy him out in 3 years his cap hit on buyout is 833k.
The best way to get the best value contracts (essentially all the best value contracts in the NHL) is to sign a good young player for a little more than you think they're worth for term.
All of Barkov, MacKinnon, Josi (last deal), Parise (2 deals ago), etc were signed like this.
How is a player that has 1 20 goal season worth $5 million AAV for 6 years?
Because in a cap world, contracts are more about trying to guess what a guy will be doing on the contract then what they've done before it.
And a 21 year old first round pick who was 30th in goals in the league is a good gamble to be very good. The downside risk is low as they can buy him out cheap if needed given under 25 buyouts. The upside is if he continues playing like a 30 goal 55 pt player or even improves given he's only 21 than they have a bargain as that would cost 7+
