I’d probably go 6x6 for pesce and turbo. Than Slavin gets 7x7 following year.

Kinda nuts to think about that the Canes only have Svech and Slavin signed past 23-24

Nope I didnt. Just didnt put him in there because there are a lot of different variables.

1. this is 4 years from now
2. KK could be extended to a lot lower aav rather than qualifying him.
3.If he is qualified after this season, it could be a 1 year deal, and then he would get a lower contract after that
4.KK could light it up and become Elite and then be worth more than 6m
5.KK could be doggy do do and wont get qualified by anyone.
6. Theres probably more

Also what does KK have to do with Necas? Two different players playing at different levels

If match the future offer sheet to Necas by Montreal than its gonna be way more than 7 millions probably around 8.5 and you won’t have the money to sign him cuz you gave the moon to KK LOL

Canes would easily match that. They’re much more flexible from a cap perspective than the Habs. You’d have to go to 10+ to make it tough on canes. And if you did that you won’t be able to fit all of suzuki caufield and Romanov with OS coming right back your way.

They overpaid for a year of KK to make it tough on the Habs. There’s a lower AAV mid term extension on the table. They could also just let him walk if he really falls flat. There’s not much long term risk with the KK move and they certainly won’t lose Necas bc of it.

No he cant
If he could he would have been
Instead he's the first player in a decade likely to go on Waivers
That says he was promised more from CAR then MTL would offer

i know what MTL would offer and it would have taken a big promise to get KK to leave a SCF team in a way that is unheard of

Qualifying AS A RULE means he makes atleast 6.1m
CAR gives up a 1st and a 3rd not to re-sign him next year ?
All your examples are out of the "how to tank a business" handbook

So many people "he'll sign for less "
That line of thinking is why he left MTL
CAR could end up with nothing in the end and use their spare cap space this season
But whatever its your fantasy it just tells me you dont own anything of value if this is how you rationalize business decisions

Drouin in his year at Center everyone around the league said sucked
Was better then KK's best season

We loved him when he was loyal just like Lars Eller we were ok with him achieving less then expected while those in his draft thrive
We Were . . . Now the 1st and 3rd is worth it to avoid paying him more then Danault got

Compared to Drouin and Chucky our other #3 OA players who played for us the past few years
KK started out at a decent pace then has declined since at a rate worse then Drouin or Chucky's worst years

Extra salt on those cries…errr fries there

I thought you were serious until i read “ i know what MTL would offer and it would have taken a big promise to get KK to leave a SCF team in a way that is unheard of ”. I know you can’t be serious with a comment like that

A lot of this doesn’t make sense..

Canes can certainly not qualify him if he really falls flat. Sure they’d be out a first and a third and the risk won’t have been worth it. But it’s a move with only short term risk.

There’s also a framework for an extension at a lower rate than his QO (4m). The only options aren’t he either gets over 6 on his next deal or he walks. Again, they’re taking a short term calculated risk but if it turns out it was a bad risk they’re not going to compound it by automatically qualifying him. What you alluded to is bc they spent picks on KK they have to be committed to him longer term and qualify him - that’s bad business, unlike what the OP had in his post.

There’s absolutely a middle ground. He signed the 6M OS bc it’s a lot of money for him and way more than he could’ve gotten in MTL and he’ll likely get a better opportunity in CAR than in MTL not to mention with much less pressure. Sure, MTL made the finals last year but it seems like a 50/50 bet at best that they’ll even make the playoffs next year and plus they scratched him in the playoffs so convincing him to leave MTL isn’t that big of a stretch when you throw a hunch of money at him AND he’s going to a team that looks like it’ll be more competitive than his old team both in the short and long term.
