I'll be honest im not sure what Im doing with the pens but ill try my best to give them a final all out push before the window closes.
Disclaimer: I have absolutely no clue when different pens prospects could be ready or their value so I strayed away from dealing them.

If the Pens are going to deplete all their futures for the next three seasons I think they can do better than this.

Who would you think they could get for this? The cap was quite limiting to the trades I thought of.

Vaakanainen is looking like he's gonna be a bust but we're not going to dump him for that, he's still got value as a prospect.

He also doesn't help the pens any more than someone you can get off waivers at this point (proven by Tinordi being over him in the depth chart for us last season)

I think the Gibson trade is a wise use of the futures, but as far as the Zucker and Pettersson trades go, spending those picks as incentive to take them isn't great asset management. Like in the instance of Zucker, if they were going to do that, it should have been done prior to FA so the Pens could have spent that space on an upgrade.

The Ekholm trade issue to me is while Ekholm is an upgrade I don't think it's big enough to warrant depleting a 1st and 3rd for one year of Ekholm. They'd be better off moving Pettersson for a solid 2nd line winger under contract if they're tacking on those picks.

Buying low on Vaakanainen is more banking on him developing, and not needing to be a depth guy this year. Reports from a week ago had his value around a 3rd round pick, so I think the Pens could get it through with a 4th and a 6th if Boston expects them to decline by 2024.

That's Fair. I feel like dumping zucker would be a necessary evil to bring in a better player, but I can definitely see the Pens go for a 2nd line winger in this scenario and letting POJ play instead.

Yeah, they have POJ and Riikola and I'm personally a fan of Riikola. I think he's a diamond in the rough. The issues I see is while goaltending has improved in this lineup, the forward group still hasn't upgraded from it's losses this off-season and the defense marginally upgraded as a whole.

I'm not necessarily against moving more futures a la Rutherford, but I just think if you're going to, only do it if this really make the Pens more competitive than last year and extends this window another two years.

Idk if the Ducks have enough leverage to get that much with Gibson being frustrated with the "Lack of progress" with Anaheim's rebuild. Jarry could start for them this year while their best goalie prospect (Dostal I think?) develop in the AHL, The first round pick would probably be middle of the road with the Pens not having enough cap to bring back all their FAs. Maybe a prospect tacked on instead of the third rounder but I'm not familiar with Pens prospects so I couldn't tell you which one.

The Ducks aren't seeking and don't need leverage because they don't want to give Gibson up. It will take a massive offer to persuade Anaheim to trade him. Moving him opens up a giant hole at goalie, so the Ducks won't trade him even if they get a player to fill another hole somewhere else because that's just transferring problems. Any deal for Gibson would have to offer at least the bright prospect of addressing at least two of (1) lack of quality at RW, (2) lack of quality at RD, and (3) lack of scoring talent overall. Pittsburgh isn't about to pay what Anaheim needs to improve, and the Penguins' farm system is extremely thin in any event. Finally, note what one year of Darcy Kuemper, who isn't as good as Gibson, cost Colorado, and extrapolate what 6 years of Gibson would cost.

Again, reported one week ago by Fluto Shinzawa, price Boston is asking is a 3rd and they are looking to sell him. assuming that it would be negotiated down somewhat, that price is quite realistic.

Hes still worth more than what you have here lol, they would take a 2nd for him in the case he isnt still worth a 1st, which I know he isnt... or maybe a 3rd and a 4th, but certainly not this

Again, the Bruins are Asking for a 3rd. given the nature of negotiations, it is perfectly reasonable to come to a conclusion of an assumedly high 4th and 6th. No team would be parting with a 2nd for Vaakanainen, or he would have already been traded. And considering its out in the open what the bruins are asking, a GM would be foolish to give up anything more than a 3rd unless somehow in a bidding war.

"His trade value would probably be around a 3rd RP"

I appreciate the work and the link, but yes that is only an estimate, his value could and probably still is a 2nd or a high 3rd, so a 4th and a 6th is an underpayment...
Again he isnt a 1st anymore, his value HAS dropped, but not that much.

Again tho, i respect the people like me who actually put in the work and care when making arguements rather than just being annoying and rude

That proposal to the Ducks does not get you John Gibson, not even close. It'd take something along the lines of what 'OldNYIfan' suggested.
