I doubt that package would get him, but that contract definitely won't. You're probably looking at $7.5-8M.

I mean there are reports that SJS may only get a similar package that trochek got but ok

Definitely agree that the contract extension won't work. Hertl will definitely want a raise.

A rental, two busts, and a bottom 6 forward is what Florida got. I don't think SJ is keen to copy that trade.

Hard to compare that deal.to this.

FLA was dumping salary as per owner directives.

We all know the Trochek was terrible..... and Wilson just won't let him go for peanuts

"2 busts" one of the players hasn't even been drafted and Amirov isn't a bust. Just goes to show how dumb hab fans are and are pretty much clueless and know nothing about hockey. Probably should stay away from cap friendly if you know nothing

Dan Kingerski, Kevin Kurz

Kurz hasn't ever mentioned Trocheck once.

Dan Kingerski is a Pittsburgh reporter who speculated the cost for Hertl would start at a 2nd and a good prospect and that they (Hertl and Trocheck) are statistically equivalent, two things which are obviously not true. Not exactly a real source.

its because Hertl is expiring this season and Florida needed to trade Trochek for budget savings. Not saying its exactly the same but a similar return

Hertl now is also far better than Trocheck when he was traded.

A little hostile are we? I was talking about the Trochek trade. Maybe try reading before commenting.

They aren't very similar to begin with, no.
If I have to explain why this specific proposal doesn't work well ...

Amirov is a decent prospect, but he is committed to the KHL this season, and still has an EAC for the year after (so if he isn't ready for the NHL, you may not be able to develop him in the AHL until his ELC expires the year after).

Kerfoot is ideally a 3C. Works for mitigating salary, but not really a significant benefit to the Sharks.

1st round pick is 2023.

So it's at least 2 years before SJ sees any benefit and Kerfoot could be gone by then, so there's not much reason to consider this package.
That's without taking the retention into consideration.
