19 skater team in an Olympic compressed season with alot of back-to-backs and 3 games in 4 nights with just 80k in cap space? Sorry I just cant see the leafs make it through the first 2 months of the season without moving a salary (Mikeheyev for a pick) at least.

The fears/problems/weaknesses are well known. Bunting is 26 and has one 24 game tear, is he a top 9 LW? Kampf has never played 80 games OR put up 20 or more pts? Can SImmonds stay healthy? Can Spezza hold back the clock? Is Ritchie a top 2 line guy in a career of never being one? Mikheyev and Engvall: are they just bodies or can they actually produce enough offensively? Can Kase stay healthy? All these are massively revalent questions, because theres no cap space for alternatives.

The forward corps should be better than last year, but Hyman is, by far, the best of the lot among these guys. Maybe collectively they can replace him but overall its similar to last year, with the big four forwards shouldering the load. I just dont know if the bottom 6 can contribute enough. And the deadline acqusitions of foligno, nash was a pryaer for physicality and defense in the bottom 6, I think thats still lacking.

Lots of questions, potentially (and in my opinion) a better group than where they were at this point last year, but still overly reliant on just 4 guys.

I agree with most of this. But Kämpf is there as a shut down centre. Now we can discuss what the expectations are of the 3rd line - do they score, shut down or somehow become a hybrid of the two.

The upgrade on the blueline is Sandin, but there will be growing pains......

Still 100% accurate in that it seems the lineup still lacks a physicality element. We may get surprised, but the big 4 is gonna shoulder the offensive load.

Defensively I think they are marginally better.

Ultimately, the additions are collectively better than the subtractions. However the majority of the additions come with an asterisk/caveat that many of them are risks.

Kase was a nice 35 pt guy, but that was 3 seasons ago and hasn;t been healthy for example.

I like the moves and really see the team as better than last years, BUT.... theres more worries this year than last.

Im not convinced that guys like Engvall, Mikheyev, Brooks, Gabriel are quality. I think they're closer to the Jordan Weals: AHL/NHL borderline guys, dont really bring any of the three aspects (offense, defense, physicality) enough to make an impact in more than a game or two.

I cant complain about the Bunting, Richie or Simmonds signings as theyre cheap, but theres a lot of hopes and worries....
