Description

Could this work for all teams involved? I feel like just letting KK walk isn't the smart thing to do but if he truly wants out of MTL, maybe match the offer then swing a 3 way deal between Canes and Flames.

If more cap space is needed, maybe Drouin can be added to either of the trades - depending on which team between Canes and Flames values him more (or might need him more). I think the Flames would want to a winger to add to their top 6.

just throwing it out there...maybe the number the canes offered is a little high for someone unproven and the compensation MTL would get is kinda fair? not sure why everyone is shocked. i know it is a bush league move but it is within the rules and it is total payback for the Aho thing a few years ago. Everyone is making Kotkaniemi out like he is a superstar.

For the record, Coleman is not top 6 winger. He may eventually fill that role but not because he has the talent for it. It will be because of injury or lack of depth on the Flames. A top 6 forward should be producing at least 40 pts/year, Coleman has not come close yet. And while were on the Coleman subject, $4.9M per year is a significant overpay by the Flames. On a 6 year term, that AAV should've been no more than $3.9M.

Neither team can trade him according to nhl rules. Even if they could, no reason Canes would move Troch and Bear to get picks and prospects now.

I haven’t seen any of them saying that so not sure.

The team receiving the OS (Habs) if matched cannot trade the player for one year.

The offersheet faq has nothing about the offering team so I assume they can do anything with the player
