If it was up to me I would match cause who else do we really have to play at 2C? Knowing MB he probably feels insulted by KK and let's him walk. Another case of MB mismanagement his assets, time has expired on MB's reign of terror.

Not much it means we have to trade a winger but they can handle it.

Edit** actually we don't have to trade anyone. We currently have 12 mil cap space then when Weber goes back on LTIR we jump to 19 Mil. KK's 6.1 + Zuke at 7 + Romy at 2.5 still leaves lots of room and we have leftover for Caufield the next season as well.

Here are my 2 scenarios based on this whole situation

1. Bergevin does not match lets KK go then uses the picks to get another top 6 center (thinking Dvorak rn)

2. Bergevin matches but come next season Waddell strikes again and this time he cant match. Canes end up with the Suzuki bros and yeah GG all

No guarantee either happens but who knows. Scenario one though probs the most likely should KK go.

Funny thing is some canes think it means Trocheck goes to 3c and Staal 4c. Some forget Trocheck or KK can play wing so in a sense Carolina can field a 2nd line of Trocheck-KK-Necas. Trocheck takes faceoffs and KK drives play down the middle

Let them have him if we can trade for someone who is better now is an option.
Say we get Hertl as an example (with an extension), we're likely in better shape when it matters for Price and the rest of our vets.

If you look at status next to him and Byron on the team page, you'll see they are listed as IR. They'll be placed on LTIR at the beginning of the season.

If Weber is able to play again it gets rough, but I don't expect him this year at least.

That's this season and both Weber and Byron are LTIR eligible so in reality we have 9 Mil cap space this year. Next season is better if Weber is LTIR retired then we have 19 Mil to sign Zuke, Romanov, Evans and Kotkaniemi. Plus the cap is reportedly going up by 1 Mil for 22-23 so we would have 20 Mil in that case and it likely takes just 16 ish to sign everyone. So we are still in good shape.
