Oh honey, no. You don't even want to think of what it will cost you to get Tarasenko at the deadline if he's playing all season after a proper preseason. Good grief.

You’re acting like it’s a given Tarasenko has a bounce back season if he goes through a “proper preseason” It’s just as likely that he’ll regress even more and become close to a replacement level player at even strength.

Oh, okay. Well, it doesn't fly then, either.

1- This guy put Tarasenko on his top line. So I am certainly not alone in expressing confidence he'll be back to more normal business with a preseason (which is hardly a hot take).

2- What are you on about? How do you come up with that? He came back from a long layoff with no preseason into a condensed schedule with hardly any practice time while everyone else was in midseason form and fitness - and STILL put up points at a 2nd line rate. He had no problems with his shoulder, no problems with his skating, no problems with banging bodies. The only things that were really off were his rhythm in the system and his shooting accuracy. At least until the last game of the playoffs, when he sniped two beauties. So no, it's not just as likely he turns into garbage.

Ok well it’s nothing new for a portion of the isles fanbase to get blinded by a players name. The reality is he wouldn’t be on the top line if he came to the isles.

It doesn’t matter that Tarasenko put up points at a 2nd line rate - he didn’t generate quality scoring chances or increase his teams rate of scoring, which is more important. Tarasenko also had trouble getting to prime scoring areas like he used to, specifically in the high slot. He was close to a replacement level player last season, thinking he’s going to have a top line impact because he’ll get a full pre-season is false hope.

One of the main reasons why Alex Edler signed with us was for the No Movement Clause, denoted by the "NMC" in the upper-right-hand corner of his tab.

Oh, did I forget to mention he came back to a team decimated by injuries for like two months? And he did not have any trouble getting to any spot he wanted to get to, I have no idea how you figured that. And you clearly don;t know what a replacement level player is. As I said, his numbers put him squarely in 2nd like territory.

And at least I gave valid reasons to think he'll bounce back to near normal. You just stated the chance is just as good he'll turn to crap with no reasoning involved. But whatever, I'm perfectly content to let him score his value through the roof.

Tarasenko’s isolated impact showed he had trouble getting shots off from the high slot/circle last season. I mean at even strength he was pretty close to replacement level last season - GF/60 and XGF/60 at -1 SD. That’s pretty bad and definitely not a 2nd line caliber impact. There’s no reason to believe he’ll have a top line impact next season just because he gets to go through a full preseason.

The shoulder surgery he had (laterjat) is good at preventing re-dislocations but it is known to affect range of motion, which could affect his shot. There’s little reason to be optimistic he’ll return to form.

You know what's even better than analytics? Actual counting stats. His actual P/60 was at a 2nd line rate. And yes, there's plenty of reason to believe he will improve on last season's output given a regular preseason as opposed to coming back off a long layoff with little practice time while everyone else is in midseason form/fitness. Because duh. But we can bicker back and forth over this stuff, and none of it will change the fact that the Blues are not accepting the offer above.

And his range of motion was just fine, thanks.

Counting stats are not better than analytics. Points dont account any context and they ignore every event that lead to a goal. Counting stats fail to show the overall impact of a player.

The islanders shouldn’t make that offer in the first place, so I don’t care what the Blues think.

Like you would know how his range of motion is lol

1- Hahahaha what??? I'll tell ya what, when they start deciding games by xG, you let me know.

2- There, FYP. All these Corsi stats and the like lack just as much context.

3- Then why are you here arguing? I responded to the AGM author, and you are free to ignore the conversation surrounding his proposed trade.

4- But somehow you know better? Adorable. At least I watched every game he played after the return, and countless games of his before the injury. And understand that he isn;t going to BS people when he speaks about his health. And read everything his doctor said. Etc etc.

I'm bored with this. Have a good one.

1. His GF/60 was even worse. Tarasenko had a negative impact on his teams rate of scoring. That’s kind of important.

2. Never brought up Corsi because it’s not always a good indicator of a players impact.

3. You acted like it’s a given that Tarasenko will return to form when it’s highly unlikely.

4. Just because Tarasenko is “healthy” doesn’t mean he’s at 100% .

Then why trade for him at that point? Name recognition? Jersey sales?

I think it would be a terrible idea to trade for Tarasenko.
