I'm not judging here, and may simply be under-informed, if so let me know. But I'm not trying to be stanky or anything.

One thing that has struck me as really odd/a mistake in Ottawa's otherwise quite smart appearing rebuild, is not targetting a #1 C. They have drafted a few guys (and picked up Chabot before the start of the rebuild if my memory of timeline serves correctly) to be top pairing D, and certainly have drafted some high ceiling wingers. But unless they really think Stutzle can develop into a C which I've never seen more than passing reference to, it seems to me to be a big missed area in the rebuild

Norris looks like a solid centre and perhaps could be a contending #2c. Pinto seems decent, but compared to their long list of top end prospects at w and D it just seems odd to me, as forward cores are generally built from C out

They have no C's on the level of Tkachuk, Stutzle, Chabot, Bernard Docker, Sanderson. And their new top 10 pick is another RW I don't know much about. Even Lassi Thomson I believe they're fairly high on. Let alone Zub and Brannstrom

Understandable question. I'd answer it by saying I don't think you can always plan what players develop quicker or better. They drafted Logan Brown to be a top centre and it hasn't worked out so far. Then where they been picking recently they've clearly valued other players higher. Having said that! I was very high on Lundell with the 5th pick in 2020 and they went with Sanderson. It is what it is.

Personally as far as building a team. Having star young players doesn't necessarily mean success. See Buffalo as an example and too a much lesser extent the Leafs but by that I only mean playoffs. The Leafs are obviously a good team but they are hindered by their contracts. Once the young stars get good fast, they must be paid big. And sometimes it hinders the flexibility of teams. I don't mind that Norris and Pinto aren't world beaters very young. To me that means they can be cost controlled cheaper and still provide a good level of play. The blues won their cup without a superstar level centre but instead very good 2way centre and depth. Maybe the sens can do the same.

That's great for beating the leafs and all but I can't really think of the last Cup winner that didn't have a 70 point centre at minimum

R'OR is still a low end 1c. I'm not an expert on pinto nor Norris but neither seem to be trending to his level. But yes the blues would be the best example of a team without 1-2 top C's. The other example of a team that has gotten close is Vegas.

I'd say the blues were a bit of a "everything breaking right at the right time" with Binnington just being so hot for 6 months so it's a bit of a hard model to replicate.

I think Norris can be 60-65pt 2 way centre conservatively and possibly higher. I think Couture is a similar potential wise. In terms of Pinto I don’t see it in terms of style of play but potential wise , he can be Cirelli level

Just seems a flaw in the rebuild. I'm all for best player available, but it's really rare to build a contender let alone a Cup champion without a frwnchise c. Given they've had like 7 top 5 picks the last 5 years it seems a mistake to me they haven't tried to draft onr
