Gonna have to say every team probably declines. If that's what the NYR offered the trade would've been done a long time ago.

Drop the 2nds from the EDM and Boston trade. Koskinen would be a cap dump that gets waived halfway through the season for UPL and Strome is a lot better than DeBrusk, even if Strome has been carried

Why are you retaining on players and sending high picks too? Just to upgrade 20 spots for a 1st? Not worth it. Georgiev alone would net a 2nd, taking Koskinen means it would be a 2nd and a prospect. Strome retained easily gets a 1st from a contender, and if you are planning on playing Debrusk on the 4th line there is no reason to acquire him. Taking Myers would cost a 1st by itself. Butcher 50% retained is probably worth a 3rd

This is honestly fair value for an Eichel trade at this point. Still don't think the Rangers should do it but the value is fair

Myers, for me, would cost 3 firsts. I figure its 5 million or so for a first, and myers who is awful, is owed 18 million. If it was for just this year, maybe, its gonna be a tire fire anyways, but i have no interest in bringing him on, especially since our right side is weak, i worry that they might just try to let him earn his money for 3 years, and i aint risking it for one lousy mid first.

Edmonton's not coughing up a 1st to downgrade their goaltending, despite the cap savings.

Koskinen is garbage, at least Georgiev is a league average back up

Over the past 2 years, Koskinen posted a .910 save percentage to Georgiev's .908. And Koskinen's mark was dragged down by the beginning of 20-21 when Smith was injured and Holland screwed up the backup situation repeatedly, and it meant that Koskinen had to play every game of a wicked schedule - 12 games in 24 nights traveling thousands of miles through 4 time zones - which isn't something ANY goalie can stand up under. It wasn't fair to Koskinen but Tippett had little choice but to keep throwing him over the boards, so his results were poor over that stretch. I don't fault Koskinen for that, he did his best in an impossible situation.

If you pull those 12 games out of the equation to get a look at how he performs under normal circumstances, his save percentage over the past two seasons is .916, well above Georgiev's .908.

And before you blame NYR's defense, know that Koskinen faced 32.60 shots/60 to Georgiev's 31.99 SA/60 in all situations, and 32.34 SA/60 vs Georgiev's 31.03 at 5v5. Its not quality of shots either, as Koskinen faced 8.50 HDSA/60 while Georgiev faced 7.46.

Edmonton is in Win Now mode, they aren't going to downgrade their goaltending this year. And to expect them to give up a high pick to make their team worse is crazy.

Actually thank you for this, now when Sabre GMs trade for Georgiev i can tell them it makes no sense and then show them he isnt that good to start with. Koskinen is still a cap dump and they are marginally different so Buffalo isnt adding and they arent taking cap for free

Yeah, don't trade for Georgiev, not a good idea IMO.

I'm happy keeping Koskinen for the last year of his contract - when given a normal 1B workload he's an above average puck stopper. The Smith-Koskinen tandem should do just fine this year again.

Thank you all for your comments.
As usual these are all fantasy trades.
My goal was to try to get as many first round picks next year.
If the Sabres were to draft well, maybe 2 to 4 of them would be ready in 3 years when most of the high cost low return contracts were over.
I noticed @ON3M4N does not like the Strome trade and @CD282 is absolutely reviled with the Koskinen trade.
NP, only a fun site to pretend we are actual NHL GM's.
It would be nice if we actually had the data base that they did?
Regardless, maybe the trades need a little tweaking or twerking and maybe Olofsson could be moved if Buffalo thought DeBrusk could net 15 or more goals.
I hope Buffalo can make more trades as the Butcher one and get a serviceable player and a pick as well.
More direct comments below.

Yes I have seen similar trade posted, I agree it is most likely what will be in any package for Eichel. Young roster player with a good ceiling, another roster player to balance the cap, a couple of picks and maybe another roster player.

Well maybe this is the offer and Karmanos is trying to tie up the other pieces to the trade. Move Strome, Georgiev and the second round pick. This is a quiet time in the NHL, the last trade was in July.

I agree with you completely. I added the seconds to make the trades more equitable to contributors from other teams and you can see how that went.

Great feed back. Do you think Holland would make a similar deal if he wanted to move Kassian? Maybe a LHD, or Eakin and a second for the 2022 first? Let's face it $3,000,000 for 2 goals for the next three year. Who wants that contract holding down the team?

I know I have seen many posts as this one.
Myers is not terrible just over paid by at least $2,000,000/yr. BTW IYO could Vancouver use a LHD.

Thank you for your input. You may be correct.

You may be correct, but if he is bad, then he will help the Sabres to do poorly. If he is merely over paid getting a first is a great deal, as the Sabres could retain his salary to collect more assets.
Either way it is a win and the Sabres get a first round pick this year.

You do know his 6 goals would have led the Sabres last year and his 21 pts were only 2 behind Dahlin.
Regardless, read my comment above.

OK good point. Read above, how about Kassian for a similar deal above?

OK fair enough.
Just IMO, I think he would do as well with Hall as he did with Panarin.
But you know your Bruins better than I.

I think I will put to bed my dream of 6 (or even 7 if the Sabres could find the right buyer for Olofsson after DeBrusk is a Sabre) first round draft picks next year.
But that would be a really interesting draft.
If they had even 4 first round picks I would go to Montreal to watch it live.
I chatted with Mark Gandler, the year the draft was in Buffalo.
He was a very engaging individual willing to express his views and listen to a know nothing talk.
Oh BTW, I got an autograph photo of Wayne Gretzky as well, so it was quite and event for me.
He was an amazingly humble individual.

Kassian is an emotional player he needs the fans. Kassian’s wife also gave birth beginning of the season last year. Who knows she probably had postpartum and is just as crazy as zack is called him every minute of the day crying maybe? Lots was going on with him.

No, I don't think he'd do that just now. Kassian had a bad seasons after two good ones, I do think the Oilers value what he brings (energy, physicality and goal-scoring ability). He's getting paid like a 3rd liner and produces well above that when healthy.

Even including the past poor season, in the last 82 games he scored 14 goals and 34 points - all at even strength. That's well worth his contract, so I don't see the Oilers paying to dump him. I think they watch to see if he can rebound this season before making any decision.
