Sadly an unneeded rental Rust and Jarry does not fetch 6 years of Gibson.

I just brought up in another thread how every fanbase has these types of people. And how Leafs and Wings fans are typically the worst about it. And how flames and Oilers fans have been bad recently regarding Lucic and Kassian trades to the pens.
And of course wings and flames fans jump on to get butthurt and prove my point lol.

As for legit takes on the trades:
Pens don’t do that blues trade because Senko is too much of a risk. Blues fans are attached because they pretend that he isn’t coming off a 3rd surgery that we HOPE corrected TWO botched surgeries and a shoulder issue. If the pens Tarasenko comes back relatively close to the player he was before the surgeries, then it favors the pens because Tarasenko even relatively close to what he was is better than Zucker and MP is better than Bortuzzo but Bortuzzo is the type of RHD the pens could use for the 3rd pair. Blues know they won’t get fair value for Tarasenko or he’d be traded by now.
Anaheim declines the trade because they are rebuilding and still a few years away. They wouldn’t have an interest in rust and wouldn’t want to take the risk that rust’s production takes a hit playing with much lesser talent in Anaheim. They’d look more for Jarry plus futures like 1st round pick/Poulin or Legare. However it’s fair value and not like Anaheim trading the pens Rakell and Stolarz for Marino lol. That’s quite an exaggeration. None of these teams laugh and hang up.

I'm amazed that Blues fans think Tarasenko has any significant value at this point. Don't get me wrong, I don't make this trade either, but because I'd rather keep Zucker. Tarasenko is damaged goods. STL should be thrilled if anyone wants to give them a decent player.

You're in a fog if you think a rental and a bad goalie gets you six years of first-class goaltending. (After all, that's why you're trading for him.) An absolute fog.

Jarry isn’t a bad goalie though. And yeah if the team trading Gibson was a contender that had another higher paid starting goalie and wanted a cheaper 1A/1B tandem and gets a top 6 F on a solid contract on top of it. It’s not like Gibson has been phenomenal the past couple year either lol.

If Gibson is so "lol" non-phenomenal, why are you trading for him? To be a back-up to Casey DeSmith? To be good for a couple of years and then be a $6.4 million millstone for twice as long? No, thee reason why you're trading for John Gibson is that you expect him to be your starting goalie for at least five years, i.e., the window that is fast closing on your Stanley Cup aspirations.

If one year of Darcy Kuemper, who isn't really in Gibson's class, is worth a first and an A-prospect RD, why do you think that six years of Gibson is only worth a rental forward and the guy who is the reason why you're trading for Gibson in the first place? The value of this trade is EXACTLY as ludicrous as six years of John Marino (who had a down year) for a rental and a backup goalie.

Well first off, I’m not trading for John Gibson. This isn’t my ACGM and have even said Anaheim doesn’t do this. 2nd, I said he hasn’t had phenomenal years the past couple years. The only reason the pens would trade for him is to hope he gets back to form with a good team. Jarry has been better than Gibson each of the last 2 years. If the pens trade for Gibson it would be to be a 1A/1B tandem with Jarry.

Kuemper went for as much as he did for several reasons. 1. Colorado became desperate when Grubauer signed with Seattle. 2. Kuemper costs less against the cap. 3. Arizona also retained salary on that cheaper cap hit. I mean I can turn it around the other way and say vezina winner MAF was traded for nothing 🤷‍♂️. The difference between your Marino example is that Jarry is a starting goalie. If you want to be ignorant and make yourself look uneducated, that’s your right, but it doesn’t make you right. You’re comparing it to trading an AHL starting goalie and a rental winger who has had a couple down years for a top 4 RHD that’s signed to a great contract and had only a down half a season (cause he was better than last year when they took him away from Matheson). Whereas this is trading an all star caliber starting nhl goalie and a top 6 winger who has been almost a PPG player over the last two seasons on a great contract. But as I’ve said several times already. I don’t believe for one second Anaheim accepts that cause they’d want high draft picks and prospects for Gibson. This trade is fair if Gibson was on a contender. I have no idea why you’re arguing and getting butthurt over it lol
