Seattle keep their futures and all the cap, and spend the cap next season on UFAs.

Gee, I think they are weak on wings. To me, they deliberately didn't trade "name players" with higher contracts, in order to have available capf or future years.
Vegas went about differently. The few games I saw with Vegas in their first year, man I thought they got all the referees calls going their way. Thought the NHL allowed their fan base to be excited. Maybe Seattle will get same homer officiating.

Beniers doesn't really project as a franchise player though, superb for sure, but only went so high due a relatively very weak draft (maybe historically so)

If he was a typical 2OA then it'd be pretty ok

Pretty low though as is

I had Cale Fleury instead (RHD) and conditions on the 1st (health insurance), but was thinking of something similar. Would Seattle move Beniers and make Eichel their franchise player? Hard to say, but it does make sense for both teams.
I would even suggest Buffalo take less to make Beniers happen. I'd say getting a plausible replacement that is younger and not damaged (relationship and health), is a win.

Adding a young good cost controlled NHLer like Appketon would help the trade a lot imo especially for Buffalo to be confident in accepting it all told

Seattle has no assets to trade for Eichel. Unless you want to do Berniers and 3 1sts

Over all I like the trade, see my suggestion below.

Add Larsson and the Sabre Defense is set for the foreseeable future.
Quoting: Radu47

You are correct but with Cozens and Mittelstadt, I would imagine one of them would emerge as the best to play with Skinner.

@Skyraider112 I would go one step further, give me Adam Larsson and drop Fleury and the 2022 first.
I think Larsson with Dahlin would be a killer top pairing.
Dahlin - Larsson
Power - Jokiharju
Samuelsson - it really does not matter as the 6th defenseman will not see much playing time with those other five.

Beniers and three 1sts is worth more than four 1sts.
Let's say you get four 15th overall picks. It's going to take at least two of those plus to move up to pick 2nd overall and those picks are almost never available.

If you want Beniers (or any top 10 equivalent player really), you'll be lucky to get two 1sts on top of that. For a top 3 pick, you can maybe get a 1st and a B prospect in the deal.

Sticking to that four 1st round picks idea for quantity, only ensures you aren't going to get the quality you'd prefer.

Regardless, Seattle doesn't have the assets for an Eichel trade, not without another team involved

What assets don't they have? They have a top prospect, they have some young RFA's and RHD, they have all their picks. Like I said, if they are willing to move Beniers it makes sense for both teams.

I don't know what you expect, but it's obviously out there for a statement like that.

They have one good prospect, the rest are toss ups. They have no roster players that are appealing to the Sabres because they are all older or just not good. They have 1sts and Berniers, that's really all they would trade of value and you already stated they wouldn't trade more than 1 1st which simply isn't enough
