Description
again one of my cup or bust teams. the biggest weakness is the young defense, and lack of a top 6 winger. vegas took advantage of the inexperienced blueline to win the series. there is a lot of depth on colorado so there are certainly options; but once makar, girard, byram etc get more big games under their belt, this will be a scary team.

theyre on the decline, and debrusk definitely needs a fresh start elsewhere. 2023 doesnt look like a bad draft and Foudy isnt a terrible prospect. this is likely the most they could get for debrusk because his stock is falling a lot.

there are a lot of guys that are out there that could fill that top 6 role. rakell is certainly one of them.

How does it help them this year? Every move their making is about this year.

They're in win now mode with a 1-2 year window. If they move DeBrusk they're first goal is to use him in a deal to get a piece to help them win now.

i guess my point is that debrusk doesnt really help them right now in a bottom 6 role.

any team with a debrusk like player wouldnt trade for him because there would be no point. and boston certainly wouldnt downgrade on him.

i mean 5 goals and 9 assists in 41 games says a lot. on pace for only 10 goals in a full season. plus his advanced stats have dipped a lot.

Sure. Don’t really care about advanced stats, but ya. That drop off in goals is crazy for a guy that was playing at a 25 goal per 82 pace over his career before that. Which option do you think is more likely:
1. A 24 year old just forgot how to play hockey
2. A shortened off season, no pre season, and a weird pandemic season affected debrusk more than most players.

One of those is logical, one of those is not.

Foudy increased his stock a lot last year, and I think Colorado really likes him. DeBrusk could be a target, but I don't think JLF would be included going the other way.

its not that he forgot how to play hockey lol. i think that he is unhappy in boston and would like out. his ice time was also cut significantly. also the pandemic argument is nonsensicle because look at players like Fleury and Jeff Carter who's careers were likely extended due to much needed rest. there are lots of examples of players who just burn out on their current teams. can debrusk bounce back? absolutely. is it more likely to bounce back somewhere other than boston? also yes.

boston turns that down, they arent selling

They didnt go so heavy in UFA just to sell off guys. They need a 2c. not move a top 6 winger out for futures. Would be tempted for the Avs but I dont see Boston being interested

So it’s almost like the situation effected players differently??? Well I’m shocked. Seriously, cmon. Doesn’t that make sense to you? A player who’s primary weapon is his legs didn’t do well, older players who don’t rely on speed did better.

So the thing about him wanting out of boston and being unhappy there is based onnnnn? Nothing? Absolutely nothing? An instagram post you saw?

Based on the fact he requested a trade a few months back, and the fact his ice time was cut in half. Hes not happy in boston.

That didn’t happen. Not sure if you’re in touch with the goings on in boston.

scroll down to his possesion metrics. he averaged around 1100 total minutes per 60 game season from 17-18 to 19-20, then in 20-21 cut to 610 minutes, which even in a covid year is a dramatic drop. ice time, production and trust of the coaching staff has dropped. i dont think im saying anything crazy here.

Talking about the trade request. His poor season is well documented.
