The St. Louis Blues are reportedly interested in Scott Mayfield.

Mayfield is from St. Louis and the Blues lost a key defenceman in the expansion draft.

Is there anything from the Blues that would interest you as an Islanders fan in a trade for Mayfield?

Not an Isles fan but if a trade does happen I could see the main peices going either way is Tarasenko and Mayfield

Jeremy Rutherford at The Athletic. I smell bs though. Makes zero sense for Isles. And the fact that Mayfield is from St. Louis makes it smell even more bs.

No. And Rutherford is the most delusional writer I've seen in a while. You're a lot better off disregarding (or just not reading at all) anything the guy says.

In fairness, most American hockey writers are the same way.

I just don't see the Islanders trading Scott, and why would they? He's paid pennies for what he brings to the table.

Only outside chance I could see, is if a top 4 LHD is coming back to balance the Isles defense. That player would have to have some term and be under 28.

Nope. Isles already have to fill one top-4D spot. They are not creating another hole to get Tarasenko. Bailey would have to go either to STL or in a subsequent move for a LD

Maybe as part of a package for Tarasenko. Otherwise, I’d rather just hold onto him

Look at his twitter its hilarious
Also i dont doubt STL has intrest in Mayfield but i agree the isles wouldnt do it unless they really believed in dobson and even then it doesnt really make sense for them

Not to round out a team. Besides, where would Parise and Wahlstrom play? You'd have 10 forwards for the top 9.

I am a casual baseball fan (the season and the games are just too long) and I've never heard of him, but if he's worse than Rutherford whoever he writes for is f*cked.

He is 100% an Islander that has not been announced yet. Gotta read between the lines. He's still unsigned, was/has been linked to us for years as he's Lou's guy, and at Da Beauty League he was interviewed and said he's so excited for next year. It's gonna happen. Which is why if we got Tarasenko a Top-9F with a contract/term is going to have to go.
