I think NYR gets away with a steal here and Calgary is kinda getting scammed based on their circumstances. They might be an Eichel away from contending, but when you subtract Monahan at the same time they are still a very flawed team that is bubble playoff contender at best and they should not be trading Zary and their 1st rounder in next years draft

CGY should and would happily make this trade. Eichel is a top 10 elite 1C and that’s exactly what CGY needs to improve their roster. Making this trade would give CGY the best Top 6 they have had in a long, long time.

The bigger gap in the Flames roster either way is on defense.
