Description

Canes have a rumored deal with svech in place at 8x8.75mil. They are also digging around Tarasenko. Canes are going to want to have a guaranteed positive out come out of acquiring Tarasenko. That is where the conditional pick comes in. It starts off as a 2nd, but if Tarasenko does not play in enough games (regular season: 82x.75=61.5 -> 62 games AND 75% of all playoff games) the pick is upgraded to a 1st round pick in 2023. It will more than likely be that the pick would stay a second, but you never know. Canes needed some retention on Senko as an extra precaution.

Uhh no. The Blues are not retaining 4M and doing that pick condition crap for a stack of futures that includes only one piece up to even a B prospect level.

I like the thought around the condition but I’d adjust it. Put conditions on the pick they’re getting. Make it a 3rd and if he meets games played criteria up it to a first. Also take retention off and Rees out. So essentially Suzuki conditional 3rd/1st and another prospect.

The blues retaining and potentially loosing a first is baffling. With retention there should be a pick if he plays enough games going to St. Louis. Like if he plays in 80% of the season a 3rd goes to a 2nd going to the blues. Not the other way around.
