Quoting: littlejerryseinfeld
Eklund is a good prospect, but he is nowhere near eichels level.
Also, what core? Your core is old and takes up a third of the cap among 3 players
Oh honey, it's worse than that. Between Couture, Kane, EK65, Burns, and Vlasic we've got $41.5 million - or half the cap - tied up, Meier is due a QO of $10 million in two years, and both of our up and coming defensemen need new contracts next year, as does Hertl.
Which is why adding Eichel to that roster is the
worst idea. I doubt Kane is going anywhere, and even if you got Vlasic to waive to the worst team in the league (he won't, and you still haven't explained why you think he would) we'd still be looking at....oh, wait. Gosh, that would put us at $44.5 million dollars tied up in six players rather than $41.5 million. Yeah, this is
clearly the way.
Also, as I said, it's not just about Eklund, though I'm 100% sure that he's seen as untouchable by the front office. It's about giving up Eklund and any hope of getting Wright or Bedard. No, thanks, we already did one trade where we sold the farm for one elite player with a history of major injury and we know from experience how quickly that can bite you in the ass.
Pass, pass, pass, pass.
