You won't like it but RASMUS ANDERSSON

Sens are going to be fine on LD for a long time so the place they could really improve is RD

At forward, they're going to be stacked on Wings and even at center. The only question is can Stutzle become an elite center?

If not, there's Norris, Pinto, Brown, Greig, etc but that could mean they're lacking an offensive playmaking center

So basically, there's no point in trading Connor Brown (who is a KEY player) if there's no good RD coming back OR a young center with upside

A 1st round pick could also interest the Sens but they will/should planning on competing in the near future so they're not in selling mode anymore (although we never really know with Melnyk)

OTT doesnt need more middle picks.

If you want CBrown, it costs a 1st or 1st equivalent prospect

Yeah, I guess if Ottowa is trying to compete there is no point in moving him unless it fills holes in their roster.
The flames wouldn't move Rasmus for Brown. Creates a huge hole on our backend which already isn't that strong after losing Gio. Plus I think Rasmus holds more value.

Looking at some forward trades this year:
Reinheart for 1st + levi
Buchnevich for 2nd + Blais
Arvidsson for 2nd + 3rd.

The most I would give would be x2 2nds or 2nd + Stromgren type prospect. Flames don't really have the C/RD you would be looking for.
I guess there is no dance to be had.

Would not move a top prospect or a first for C. Brown. Guess there's no trade to be made

I would do Dube and a 2nd in a heart beat, maybe even just adding Dube to your package above. Could cost a little more though.

If Dorion makes that move, Sens fans will (deservedly so) demand his head on a platter... Not that we haven't done that before

And the return for these players were very underwhelming. If that's the market for good forwards, I'd rather just keep Brown

Ottawa's two biggest weaknesses are RW and RD. Much like what you described with Rasmus, moving Brown would create a huge hole for the Sens. Even if the trade were to fill a hole at RD, it would just open one right back up at RW. Past Brown and Batherson, Ottawa doesnt have much on the right side which likely played in to the fact that they may have reached a bit on a big right shot RW with top 6 potential in Boucher this year at 10.

The other thing to keep in mind is that Ottawa is rumoured to be looking at pieces to add to their top 6 and are likely willing to give up a 2nd or two. Trading Brown for picks is the opposite of what the team has said and shown that they are trying to accomplish. I could see something working if there was a recent 1st round pick included in a trade because theyd be a little further along in their development and would fit the teams timeline better but taking two 2nds back for Brown would only make sense if those picks were parlayed into a bigger trade and im not sure if Ottawa is in on anything like that.

He'd be great in Calgary but I cant see the two teams working something out

Would love to get Brown and I think those sample trades are the right value. But if the Sens are headed towards competeing we would have to send a player they could use (similar to the NYR and Blues trade). Unless they’d take a close to ready NHL prospect, but I don’t think the Flames would make that move.
