Description
Pretty confident in the Young C's, they are very well insulated with good wingers:

Suzuki is established top 6 C.

KK needs to take the next step, but playing with Gallagher and Hoffman should really help him offensively. Gallagher us a 5 on 5 beast (which will benefit Hoffman) and Hoffman needs a playmaker which came natural for KK when he was drafted (hasn't played with a sniper yet). KK deserves the chance at the very least, they need to know what they have in him now it's his 4th year.

Poehlung is a dark horse for 3C and I believe he will take it. He played with a modern power forward Teasdale in the AHL and Blandisi who is a skilled AHL guy, so I see Drouin and Anderson bringing good skillets to compliment Poehling.

Evans is a great 4C and I'm also confident in him as a 3C if Poehling isn't ready or there is an injury. Evans is a top PK guy for the habs and can play tough defensive minutes, which will help replace Danault.

I also like the Paquette depth addition.

Wings are solid, Goalie is solid, only place to add is on defense. I'd feel a lot better about this lineup if they added a RD with some offensive upside and a physical edge. Miller is a perfect candidate, if Petry goes down this team is screwed but Miller would really help with there RD depth. Also not too sure about Savard as a top 4 D, and there is no certainty with Wideman.

My thoughts exactly.

The defense as is will need a big jump from a guy like Romanov to stay competitive. I like your idea of Miller, and BUF would probably be willing to part ways. As a non-trade option I would also like a guy like Sami Vatanen, provided he stays healthy enough. Good puck mover but doesn't quite have the physicality you were refering to.

We'll see!

Not sure if Miller is actually available or what the price would be... so if there aren't any options I'd be all over Vatanen on a cheap deal. Creates more competition at camp for Wideman and gives MTL more depth so it doesn't hurt.

Only thing I'm not sure about is if Vatanen can fit the system MTL wants with their D.

The Sabres are pretty thin on the right, I would think a second round pick would be very interesting to them though. Worst case is the Sabres wanna wait til the deadline, but I don't think anybody would outbid you, even with the retention.

Since the Sabres are thin on RHD would you consider Brook + 4th for Miller?

I liked Miller when the Sabres picked him up two years ago.
He has a hard shot and can score from the point.
When paired with Dahlin, he made Dahlin better.
Most Sabre fans under rate him.
He has been misused his entire time with Buffalo.
If I were the GM I would take Brook and a fourth, as Josh immediately becomes Buffalo's top RHD prospect.
Fitzgerald or Prow could be used as the third pairing "place holder" as Buffalo is trying to do poorly this year.
