Untouchable isn’t a thing. It’s a “thing” on CF but if guys like Gretzky can be traded then EP can. Everyone has a price that said this is probably fair value for EP but I don’t think Vancouver should do it.

I'm biased, but I think the value here is pretty fair. That said, I recognize that DET & VAN don't make good trade partners here because VAN would want an overpay and DET wouldn't give Seider for anything.

Without EP, VAN lacks a top 6 C, no? Therefore, I would realistically expect a deal to start with Larkin but I tossed Veleno into the mix instead along with Zadina (which is obviously the biggest piece here).

Horvat is a solid 2C and Miller can play center.

You’re right that Van would want an overpayment, but what you’ve posted here is a severe underpayment. Not even half of Pettersson’s value. Maybe that 2023 pick ends up being high end but also maybe it ends up being another Zadina

Which science world are we talking about Canadian or US? Either way it gets more than a trip to science world but It doesn't get you close to Pettersson. I know I say this a lot but I also don't think Detroit is in any position to give that much for a single player.

Zadina is one year younger than Pettersson. Do you really think these two players are even close to equivalent in value? A developing 21 year old who has achieved 3rd line results to this point in his career, vs a 22 year old legitimate superstar who has been the best player on his team for 3 seasons. There is a massive gap in value here. A much bigger gap than two okay prospects and a 1st.

On top of that, we need to think about the type of package vancouver actually wants back if they trade Pettersson. He is their best player, so if they trade him for future, it only makes sense if they go into a full rebuild. Blow it up, trade away the core (similar to what buffalo did this year). Best case in this scenerio would be setting the teams contention back 4 years, worst case is setting it back much longer.

Even if the offer was seider and Raymond and 2023 1st, it’s still unlikely the Canucks would accept because it sets them back so far in their window of contention

I think just about every team could use a center prospect with the exception being LA.

That is a rebuilding move, VAN is not looking to rebuild they want to compete, so it doesn't make any sense for them.

Raymond
2022 first

Or

Seider
Zadina
2022 1st

agreed that everyone does have a price.... but IF Pettersson is going to be traded at the very least it should be for a package that would interest VAN... they are in win now mode. they don't want picks and prospects, they want players who can help them win now, DET doesnt have a player that would do that. i'm not saying EP40 is untouchable, just not for this package... and not to DET based on the assets that they have
