Description
I do believe a premium will be demanded keeping Jack in the division. BOS, PHI, & TOR are the only teams I really dont want to see him go to. But attempted this anyway.

Be a big mistake by Boston considering health uncertainty, puts them over the cap, leaves a massive hole on defense that can’t be fixed. So it sounds like something Donny would do.

What's with the random over-rated-ness of Debrusk all of a sudden on this site? Everyone has him being an A+ chip and "working out" elsewhere. Sorry to ask on here, but I'm just so confused. I don't know how you don't work out on that Bruins roster, but all of a sudden become an overpayment for Jack Eichel, apparently...

Overrated-ness? All I see is other people calling him a cap dump and bust lol. People look at his numbers last year and just base their opinion on that and they do it with ZERO context of his season last year.

How is he a cap dump in this trade? Majority of the other trades have him on the second or third line at worst. 3million isn't really a cap dump

I wouldn’t trade a top prospect for him but I’d still trade 2 2nds for him

Yet go look at all the comments on Debrusk. 90% of the people on here view him as a cap dump with no value…while trading for him and putting him on their top 6 lol. It’s hilarious actually. Every trade for Debrusk as a stand alone is here is a stiff and 3rd or 4th because he sucks….proceeds to put him on 1st line. Every trade with Debrusk as a secondary piece the comment section filled with “Debrusk has no value, he’s a bum”.

I didn't say he was, I said what I've seen other people say about him on here. @gofnut999 reply to you sums it up pretty well.

Well, you're talking about commenters, but I'm talking about the team posters... apples and oranges. I don't memorize user names but I'll go out on a limb that these are different people

Really? 25g and 48.5 pts per 82 games in first 3 years as a pro is a bust? That’s what he was averaging before the bubble. Dumb assessment. For perspective…Buchnevich avg 22g 53p per 82. Sam Reinhart 24g 53p. Guess they were busts then.

Then he dealt with a concussion, depression from the isolation, 2 minor injuries, 2 positive Covid tests, force to play his off wing out of need where he struggles, demoted after Hall acquisition, clashed with coach over struggles. Gee i can’t imagine why he struggled.

Which is the point. Fans are generally ignorant. They are biased, swayed by hot streaks, cold streaks, slumps, unsustainable boosts, players name, team he plays for when coming to a conclusion/evaluation of a player. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I had a 20 minute back and forth convo with someone the other day about a player. He ended it after arguing for 20 mins about his value with, “well i have never seen him play but i heard he is nothing special”. Lol. That is 3/4 of fans in a nutshell. Can form an opinion on a player with no idea who or what he is and why. Another common problem with fans, once they make their mind up about who and what a player is, that’s who he is, regardless of what he does.

Well, it appears that you think he hasn't worked out in Boston despite averaging 22.5goals per 82gp through 250 NHL Games is not working out.

24 year old - under team control averaging 22.5 per 82 is a pretty decent chip. Especially when you factor in he did have a terrible year.
For what it's worth Conor Garland has averaged 23.5 through per 82gp, in only 164 NHL games and is a year older.
Debrusk's career is almost identical to Hertl's first 4 years.

His value is certainly as low as it's been, but he had one bad year. During Covid -which he got. He has also talked about his struggles with isolation.

He’s scored his entire career, and then in the covid year he didn’t seem to have his legs.

I think some people think it’s more likely that a shortened off-season, no pre-season, and a very weird schedule might have hurt him, rather than thinking a 24 year old completely forgot how to play hockey.

Makes sense, no?

Damn, quiet day in Boston, eh? Quite the gangbang we got going here.

>I'm not saying he's a bust, I'm saying he's been pretty over-rated in the trades I've seen. Case in point being this one here. BUF loses this trade quite handsomely, and the trade guy is trying to say this is some kind of overpayment
>You're definitely right on the statement of people making their opinions on numbers and whatnot... even though your counter argument is all about numbers, but we'll let that go... admittedly, my most time seeing him in the regular season was last year. And I understand covid being a big factor and whatnot. But I've seen him in the playoffs all the years before, and he's never stood out to me then. The numbers verify that. There is probably a big reason why every year they go out for a big rental on the wing, and especially going for Hall long term
>His other regular season numbers besides last year, all look good. But, "GOOD". Not an Eichel overpay. Not a bust. Good. If you want to be mad at everyone else's comments, that's fine, but go harass them. I really don't think I'm saying much off the board here.
>Since for whatever reason Buchneivich has entered the conversation, you can go through my armchair GM teams and look at all my Eichel trades... they were Buch + WAY more than what is being offered on this trade. Buch also has intangibles that don't show up on the scoresheet, such as his PK prowess and two-way game. I have not seen that in Debrusk

Debrusk is probably the 5th part of this trade.

Swear I saw you say he’s pretty much been a bust 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyway you do realize he is not the primary piece right? The 2 1sts and Carlo are the 3 big pieces.

Reality is neither team does this. Does not work for either of them.

Yeah - He is a young roster piece that is often included because of upside and it helps to make Eichel's cap hit work.

It seems to be the Buffalo fans that over rate all of their trades. I mean congrats on Risto - as anything more than a 3rd was a steal, but I can't think of another trade any Sabres fans came within two miles of getting right.

Eichel will not get what you think he is worth for a couple reasons. 1) Injury is a big one. 2) Cap hit is another. Especially when you pair with a possible catastrophic neck injury. Not a lot of teams have 10m lying around. The ones that do all have guys that need to get paid soon & their guys are known and healthy. 3) He hasn't carried his team to a single playoff game. Now, this is a big one. again - limiting trade partners. If you want a team to give up X, Y & Z to obtain Eichel, they have to look at say last years Sabres and say Geesh - on paper, that team should have done a lot better. Hall, EIchel, Dahlin, Ullmark, Reinhart, Olofsson. So a team like Arizona is out because well they can't field anything close to that if they dealt for EIchel.

Buffalo is going to lose any trade for Eichel. By a lot (if he is healthy). The biggest issue is Buffalo needs to show the rest of the NHL he is healthy and I don't see a scenario where that happens. Think of it like buying a house at auction. You just don't know...
