Otherwise, if Palat takes less on a longer term deal, the team can use the money to pay Rutta a little more, as he likely walks if 850k is the team's best offer, and one of Raddysh or Katchouk should be on the main squad over Smith(possibly both). Neither of them will likely clear waivers, and if they do well this year then they would hold more value going forward than Maroon. Finally, I don't see Fleury coming to play 20 games behind Vasilevskiy, more than likely Alnefelt becomes the backup after a year in Syracuse(unless he regresses, then another min cost vet on a 1 year deal takes the spot).
