Adding Jack Eichel -- based on Sabres asking price from Vegas

Description
I think there is close to zero percent chance that Devils are considering trading for Eichel. But still fun to mock out a move.

Hague and Bahl are both very tall, but Hague has much higher upside and is already a solid #3. I don’t think Bahl will be anything more than an above average 3rd pairing D.

You really think that Adams would deal Jack Eichel to a conference foe? For what Vegas would pay, Get real it would cost far more to move Eichel to another eastern team then to a western team.

That vegas offer was refuted by friedman, probably the day after it showed up online. Apparently the sabres are intetested in krebs, and obviously firsts are nice, but the other pieces were not involved.

conference foe? lets be real the other thing buffalo and new jersey compete for are lottery picks.

I think any Atlantic division team would have to pay more but thats it.

I think most hockey observers would put them in similar tier of prospects.
Some may even view Bahl more favorably than Hague due to his skating.

No I don't. Don't think either side would see as a fit.
My intro stated, "I think there is close to zero percent chance that Devils are considering trading for Eichel"
Less to do with conference than to do with how teams match up for a deal.

Bold, but ok. Will add a mid-round pick.
(this is all fictional, so just run with it)

This is a first.

Trying to make Fiala to NJD a thing? Guilty.
Trying to make Werenski to NJD a thing? Guilty.
Trying to make Ryan Johansen to NJD a thing? Guilty.
Trying to make Cal Foote to NJD a thing? Guilty.

But I am probably the last guy on here that is "trying to make Eichel to NJD a thing"
Stated pretty clearly in opening that is is not likely, but just for fun.

Also, nothing is happening!
Its the lull of the off-season...we got to talk about something.

It's not very bold, buffalo won't trade him to a direct playoff competitor for no extra cost.

I didn't see that from Friedman.
I did see elsewhere that package was the Vegas offer, but the Buffalo ask.

Any links would be appreciated.

They are not in a similar tier - Most view Hague as a two way D who can drive offense and shutdown opposing teams top players . Bahl is strictly a defensive defenseman.

Tweet from @sabresbuzz
Friedman: #VegasBorn are still active on Eichel. The report on players from Vegas the other night is not correct. Krebs is the focal point but #Sabres want more valuable assets

Corey Pronman's rankings of drafted players has both Hague and Bahl in tier 7.

Chris Peters, former of ESPN, had Bahl ranked #82. Hague did not qualify in his criteria, but he did rank him #54 in the previous year.

The Hockey News had Hague ranked #94 in 2019 and Bahl ranked #60 in 2020

I think they are pretty similar...just Bahl is a year and a half younger.

Under no circumstances am I trading for someone who needs neck surgery and wants a procedure which is untested on NHLers who get cross-checked in the back all the time. Besides, we already have two top-6 centers who are both going to demand $7+M. No thank you on Eichel.

I am with you on all those points.
But at some point, if the trade value continues to drop and other teams cap space shrinks, we may be last one at the dance.

That isn't meant just for you, it's anyone doing it.

I get we are bored, but Eichel just doesn't make sense. I can see Fiala and Foote for sure.

Well, we missed the boat on both.
Doubt we see any more trades until maybe deadline or possibly next off-season.

But to kill time until then, who do you think we should use for the next ____ to-NJD thing?

I feel it is really tough right now. Personally with no real good 3Cs that are likely to move, I'm willing to roll with what we have....

However, what I would be interested in is who might be the 3Cs available around the deadline as that is the big spot to improve if the Devils are in it.

Also, I wouldn't say Fiala move is dead as Minn might not be willing to come to a good deal with him and might worry too much about the arbitration.

Fiala trade may not be dead.
But Devils are likely done.
