Sabres probably think hard about this for 2 million. 4 million isnt gonna happen. Thats 20 million to pay jack to play in new york, where the owner doesnt want him to go.

Its a good package, the retention is a bridge too far.

Sabres should accept. great package and they will not be competetive for at least 4-5 years so they might have 1 year as a competetive team having 4m eaten up but overall I think they would be fine. Counter with that you want a 2nd aswell and it is a deal. Rags could still do it

That's a big boy package by the rangers there, whoa! Take away a 1st and add strome instead. 4 million is a big ask, make it 2 million and let's roll in my opinion.

Strome doesn’t matter because this year isn’t an issue. It’s next year that would cost problems unless Trouba or Kreider are gone

Ive seen this time table mentioned before, i disagree. The sabres are terrible today, nobody is denying that, and their prospects are middle of the pack (which unfortunately is pretty bad all things considered). They are about to fall face first into prime draft picks and cap space. Adams doesnt inspire much confidence honestly, but karamanos does (i have no idea how to spell his name). Reasonably speaking, you should be able to make over your team in 3 years- just get somebody remotely competent to manage personnel decisions. I mean 4-5 years, what are we even doing? And thats why the sabres dont retain 4 million for 5 years, plus the owner cant possibly want that, and theres been mention of a publicly funded bills stadium recently, probably not the best time to make terrible financial decisions. Like- hey terry and kim, why not take that 20 million you paid jack to not play here, keep it, and trade him for the best offer that doesnt cost you real money, then put those 20 stacks towards a new stadium.

I agree, it is a great package.

I agree, Trouba should be added. It helps the cap for the balance of Jack's contract, the Sabres could use a RHD or they could retain and get additional assets.
Regardless, Trouba makes too much sense. Let's face it Murray messed up the rebuild by rushing it and trading for players other teams did not want (I wonder why?).
Instead of retention, add Trouba to the trade.
He is over paid but he would be a solid RHD.
BTW (EDIT) I noticed a huge change one Karmanos was added.
His trades were better, my goodness Butcher and a fifth for a handshake?
His free agent signings made much more sense.
I was hoping he could trade the 2021 first as how does one get proper value without a scouting staff.
