Looking at Montreal's roster, I see two things that are pretty obvious from my perspective.

    1. They need a #3 C

Jake Evans and Cedric Paquette as Montreal's options for a #3 C is just not going to cut it for me.

    2. They need another quality right-shot RD

David Savard is a nice addition but the loss of Shea Weber is pretty massive. I'm not convinced that Savard will be able to adequately make up for it.
    OTT
Knowing what happened to Montreal last season, the Habs narrowly made the playoffs and then went all the way to the Stanley Cup Final.

They also beat Pittsburgh in the qualifying round and played in the first round of the playoffs the year before.

With that in mind, I'm guessing they will be buyers at the 2022 trade deadline.

Most, if not all, of the highly-quality UFAs for this offseason are now off the table.

So, that means the Habs will need to be making a trade or two in the not-too distant future to stay competitive.
      2.
      MTL
      1. Tierney, Chris (1 750 000 $ retained)
      Détails additionnels:
The only reason we're looking to trade Tierney is because he's just not a good fit with our team anymore.

Despite that, he did receive more ice time per game last season than Evans did for Montreal or that Paquette did for Carolina.

He is also a bona fide bottom 6 C who can win face-offs and kill penalties.

As someone from the eastern part of Canada, Tierney is somebody who could sign an extension with the Habs if he has a good year with them.
      OTT
      1. Choix de 3e ronde en 2022 (ANA)
      2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2022 (MTL)
      Détails additionnels:
If there is no retention on Tierney, then he can be yours for a 3rd round pick.

If there is retention on Tierney, then he can be yours for a mid-low 2nd or the equivalent (2 third round picks would do).
      3.
      MTL
      1. Subban, P.K. (4 500 000 $ retained)
      Détails additionnels:
This trade would be made at the deadline.

PK and Bergevin would agree to bury the hatchet and let bygones be bygones.

If there is one player who could fill the void left behind by Shea Weber, it's PK :)
      NJD
      1. Byron, Paul
      2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2022 (MTL)
      3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (MTL)
      Détails additionnels:
If the Devils are going to tank again next season like they did this season, then they should consider trading PK before the deadline.

Byron will help the Devils stay above the cap floor for the next two seasons and the trade also gets the Devils two seconds.

When Subban was traded to the Devils, the Nashville Predators essentially got two seconds from it, so this is more than fair.

The 2022 second is used to make the swap between Byron and Subban.

The 2023 second is used to dump the final year of Byron's contract.

I think something like this could work out for both sides :)

Possibly the Sens are playoff contention, so they don't trade Tierney for futures.
But Tierney to Montreal, a good thought.

We're moving out Tierney for something.

Regardless if we make the playoffs or not.

why the hate for tierny? he’s a solid middle 6 center (2c on weaker teams 3c on good teams) his focus last year was D not offense that’s why his numbers dipped! he still is capable of 15 goals 45 points.

      1. He's just not a good fit with us anymore.

      2. He's been demoted to the 4th line on some nights and he's fallen out of favour with the coaching staff.

      3. We exposed him to Seattle.

      4. His cap hit is basically the same as Connor Brown, which doesn't look right.

      5. He's due 4.2 million in salary.

      6. He's a pending UFA who won't be re-signing with us.

      7. He was widely rumoured to be traded somewhere, along with Dadonov. We just haven't found any takers yet.

This would be great for them but let’s be real. Subban is not a good player anymore, which saddens me bc I’m a huge fan of his. He is not worth 4.5M at all at this stage of his career and he’s certainly not going to get a bigger return than what he got when he left Nashville (yeah ik Byron is going back the other side but he’s still an effective player who is only overpaid by about 1M at most and he’s a huge leader for our team, so I doubt we dump him for a worse contract).

I would love to see him back in san Jose where he could be a huge asset! make him our 2nd line center move couture to wing and say goodbye to Kane
