I think this depends on how you view him.

If you are looking at him as a legit number 1, then ok. I get it.
If you are saying he's a 2nd pairing.....that's a lot for a 2nd pairing Dman.
I mean, I know this year the contracts for defense are off the charts. Hell I've said that for awhile before FA even hit, the Demand>Supply and everyone knew it. But that's one hell of a jump to pay a 2D which were averaging roughly 4 mil per.
I know one thing, teams who didn't get defense signed are going to be reeling looking for it when the season starts. Especially as injuries start to tack on. The market is rough.

I think this is a good contract in cap hit but especially in term as 4 years from now Pionk being a smaller player and 30 will be just about to start his decline. I think Copp will be dealt for a cheaper forward now as Chevy will want to have a couple of million in wiggle room. Pavel Zacha at 2.25 would be a good choice and I think New Jersey would do the deal.
