The kings likely can’t afford him long term either and wouldn’t want to if they could. He isn’t a need for them and that’s a big haul to give up.

Reilly is turning 28, Kings won't give this up for him, we have Clarke as the next superstar behind Doughty, I dont think we really need another one, when Kings won cups they only had Doughty as a superstar, + a bunch of solid defensemen, and I see that in Faber,Bjornfot,Anderson,Roy,Walker,Spense,Grans,Nousianen.

They can just sign Ekholm for 3 years, Doughty is still 30 and is going to be good for a while. I have confidence in Clarke, he reminds me of Drew, he just signed his ELC too.

i have confidence in clarke aswell, i think he will be great, but LA going after a guy like riley for a few years to mentor a guy like clarke would be nice

Of course, would be nice, but not for Vilardi, Walker, and a 1st, Doughty is a better mentor than Reilly, and they always could sign guys like Edler to one-year deals.
