Description

Let’s assume Fiala takes the arb award and Kap signs for 4 years, where do things stand? The forward group is probably *better* than it was last year but the d corps is the question mark. I think many fans are going to be disappointed when we play the league at large and it could see lots of guys move out at the deadline (Sturm is probably very high on that list).

I would not be surprised to miss the playoffs TBH and I don’t think an Eichel, or any other C, addition really changes that. Brassard is a stop gap until Rossi is ready. IDK, I really wonder what Fiala could fetch.

That’s fair, it’s not critical for the Wild to do anything with him but I think it’s best for both parties to move on. I only moved him to OTT since their Athletic beat reporter mentioned him as a short term, low cost option.

I don’t think we’re *that* bad. And I think the young core can learn a lot by being in a playoff race and if they miss, then it’s a relatively strong top of the draft. If they make it, they make it.

If Brodin, JEE, Foligno, and Kaprizov/Fiala are all healthy; and MN gets decent goaltending it falls righting the same spot they've been "too good to be bad, yet too bad to be good" meh zone. Take away 2 of those things and the team starts entering that bad territory though.

JEE, Brodin, and Kaprizov have the biggest impact imo. Bad goalies will sink any team, for sure, but I don;t think a Dub/Stalock or Kemps/Backy situation happens this year for MN.

Don't get me wrong, losing both Fiala and Kaprizov would kill the team too. I think it could still function, and pull out too many wins to be a true bottom feeder, if one of them was playing.
