I'd be ok with this assuming both Robertson and Bunting showed top 6 calibre consistently

You clearly haven't watched Vilardi much if you think he's a sub-$2M player.

This is more a contract of the market than a knack on his skill. As a toronto native its also likely that there'd be a team friendly contract.

Take Sharangovich, or even the similarly type Eriksson Ek when he got his first contract. Usually these first year unproven RFAs with potential, or guys who have proven only parts of their game, get bridges near 2M to take the next step. If anything, it's the term that's too long. This deal likely takes place on 1 or 2 years, not 3. (Calling him "sub 2M" at 1.975 is a bit nit picky too)

Vilardi is going to get at least double that on his next contract.

It is really bold to assume he will get a 4M deal on a 2 year bridge. He would have to be really darn good next year, and I don't see a place for him in LA's top 6 any more, so things aren't on his side for that.

Essentially he'd need a fiala type breakout next year to get a 4x2.

He's being moved to the RW, where he'll likely play next to either Kopitar or Danault (wherever Arvidsson doesn't play).

Don’t think players are really taking team friendly deals generally just bc they’re “coming home”. It’s usually veterans who have made good money in their careers and are chasing a cup who take cheap deals, not young guys who haven’t wetted their beaks yet.
