He's perfect for a team that'd like to pinch in the playoffs, He'll be excellent in the season but will completely disappear when comes playoff time, thus why I like Hoffman better in Montreal for playoff purposes.

Hmmm slight overpay, but with the term being short and the money NJ has to spare it’s a good signing for both sides.

Since 2018-19, Tatar is 28th in even-strength points, tied with Zibanejad, Stamkos and DeBrincat, and ahead of the likes of Tkachuk, Eichel, Ehlers, Kopitar.

Say what you want about him being an healthy scratch during the playoffs, he easily could have slotted in over some players if it was not for the defensive, physical game the coaching staff leaned towards.

His individual statistics may take a hit without Danault and Gallagher, whom are both likely to be impacted as well, but as it is the Devils are getting a lethal top 6 winger with insane play-driving abilities.

To those attributing the playoffs scratches to an imminent decline, it’s not. It’s simply a matter of playing style. His GSVA timeline also projects him to be provide positive value and to remain a top 6 forward throughout this contract.

Inconsistent forward can be productive in ideal scenarios. Maybe NJ is ideal or maybe it's Vegas all over again;.

Would've been nice to see him in Toronto but I can see why they'd shy away from 4.5 million, especially with his playoff record.

His last two teams Healthy Scratched him in the playoffs. That's a tell.

It's fine for a team like NJ who only dreams of making the second season, but no contender would want this guy.

The Devils are in a tough division, but with the moves they’ve made this could be a playoff team next year. Tatar’s name feels like a perfect fit for the back of a Devils jersey, he should be a great player for NJ.

Tatar clearly didn't fit well in DD's system in the playoffs. Hopefully, he'll fit in well in Lindy's system, but I'm a little incredulous.
