Well… This is like the 4th Colorado team I’ve done and I’ve traded Girard in every one of them.

Why I don’t like Girard: Liability defensively. Don’t say it was how he was utilized he was like a -9 in the last 5 games vs Vegas and I know +/- isn’t always the story but I watched the sires and to me whenever Girard was on the ice Vegas was in the O-zone

So this is undoubtably this is year that Colorado has got to win it with big contracts coming up in Kadri, Burakovsky, now kuemper. I think the most important thing to deal with is get a dman who can shut it down. Parayko will be amazing on the second pair. I’m well aware that trade might not go through as they’re in the same division but oh well. Add tarasenko into the trade and we have a possible 30+ goal scorer on the second line. Maybe less retained salary to help it go through.

Sign Galchenyuk for the 3rd line- he looked good in Toronto and I think he does better when he has less pressure like he would on COL

Forwards
1st line- sensational
2nd line- One of the best top 6 in the league IMO. I think Newhook can blossom into a 60-70pt guy on this line if tarasenko can be at least a 25 goal guy, we all know he can be.
3rd line- I think Jost can take a big step forward playing with gal and Burakovsky. Gal and Bury can both be 20 goal scorers so I think this line can provide a lot of depth scoring
4th line- With Helm and backes, I think this team gets more grit and playoff readiness that they need.

Defense
1st pair- best offensive dman with one of the best 2 way dman
2nd pair- Byram has room to develop with Parayko to back him up and show him how to be a NHL defenseman
3rd pair- both top picks that didn’t live up to their potential but have become servicable dman that provide excellent depth especially for the playoffs.

Goalies
If Kuemper can stay healthy and put up a .915-.920, then this team can win the cup
Francouz is very serviceable. I’d have him play 30-35 games to take the load off of kuemper.

This team can beat VGK, TBL, FLA, TOR, NYI imo on paper but now its time for Mackinnon to show us he can take his team past the second round.
