Sabres have no leverage whatsoever anymore and quite frankly, the fact that they’re even getting 2 1sts for a player who has a 30% chance of never being able to play again is an overpayment on Drury’s part. Hajek is the only true “spare part” in this deal. Gauthier still has potential to be a solid top 6 power forward, Strome is a proven top 6 center, Georgiev is a goalie which Buffalo desperately needs, Robertson is a future top 4 defenseman, and you’re not saying no to 2 1sts and a 2nd. If this is the best offer that Buffalo can get, then they’re taking it at this point.

Yes, all of those pieces are spare parts minus the first round draft picks one of which is 3 drafts away. In addition you want Buffalo to retain half for an extended duration. You honesty can’t defend this proposal as this “leverage” you have is speculation as NYR aren’t the only team bidding for his services.
