RNH is pretty good and Hyman will be not bad for a couple of years but beyond your top 4 forwards, your talent falls off big time

This in from a diehard Leafs fan.

LOL.

And? The Leafs certainly didn't have depth issues last year and this year are very likely deeper. You added an overpriced depth forward to a 7 year deal that'll pay him twice his worth till he's 36. Great plan

I would take the Leafs depth over the Oilers depth any day of the week. Devin Shore and Kyle Turris wouldn't even touch the Leafs 4th line

They probably won't make the Oilers 4th line either. They're injury replacement guys.

They are though and Zack Kassian on your third line hurts

We won't know until training camp is over. Stop being a dink.

Not if he's healthy again. He has scored 29 goals (5v5) over the past 3 years, only 4 Leafs forwards have more.

When that top four is elite that's bound to happen, at least after that the Leafs Roster isn't AHL quality like Edmonton's

We shall see. I'd take Edmonton's top-6 over Toronto's easily though, and I'm not sure Toronto has a better bottom-6.

Edmonton still has no depth and a good portion of the bottom 6 is full of AHLers. Also, signing Hyman was the worst thing the Oilers could do, considering he has two bum knee's, won't play more than 50 games, and was invisible during majority of the playoffs.

The Oilers don't have a true shutdown centre and line, and would be easy to get around their defense. Expect to lose 8-3 games

Oilers defense and goaltending scares nobody and other than McDavid and Draisaitl, the Oilers are not great of a team. However, they are playing in the easiest division, anything less than 2nd in the Pacific should be embarrassing

Enjoy Cody Ceci and Tyson, 1/3 of the defense that lost to a zamboni driver

Everyone would take McDavid over anyone. And that's where it ends. Matthews is better than Draisaitl by a very wide margin. JT is close to as good. Marner is better than anyone else you have as is Nylander. And your bottom 6 is going to suck like it has for years.

While we wait for April, enjoy this video of Cody Ceci messing up twice. He passes the puck to the opponent and can't stop a 2-on-1

The entire debate regarding Edmonton forward depth vs Toronto forward depth has nothing to do with the original question, are the Oilers better or worse than they were last season? Dragging more irrelevant banter into the discussion should not be a surprise, particularly when it comes from a Maple Leafs fan. I am fascinated by the constant effort made by some within Leaf's Nation to validate their favorite team by disparaging others. The Oilers are an easy comparable, because there are so many similarities between the two clubs and the apparent subconscious lack of confidence in Toronto has Leaf fans slinging mud at Edmonton in an attempt to gain a false feeling of superiority because it makes them feel better about their own team's deficiencies.

The fact is the Oiler forward depth is better than it was last season, the goaltending will be very similar, although early signs suggest improved, and the jury is still out with respect to the new look defense. Which of the Oilers or Maple Leafs is the better team is an entirely different question and it can only be answered when the season has concluded.

Keith and Ceci have been solid as the Oilers 2nd pair, Ceci is a much better passer then Larsson, Ceci dishes out least one breakout pass a game

Yeah but where is Oilers shutdown now. If no one else can finish except Mcd and Draisaitl what's the point of a breakout pass other than to get it out of the zone?

Boy, this is an interesting thread. cool

Hyman (12, 8-4-12 +6) and Ceci (12, 1-6-7 +9) are big contributors to the fact that Edmonton is in the final 4. First pairing for Ceci and Hyman is 4th among forwards for TOI.

Thanks Toronto!
