This is obviously the outcome of a sign and trade vs forcing Rielly to sign with another team. If they decide that they aren't going to re-sign Rielly and are going to trade him, they'll let his agent talk to teams around the league. Once an extension between Rielly and a team (Calgary in this case), a trade would be made. It's a fluid situation, not forcefully trading Rielly immediately after a signing. As for the contract, in the current landscape it's nearly impossible to say, somewhere around $7M I assume

You mean the pp he was on with Matthews, Tavares, Marner that couldn't produce at all in the playoffs. Man I love Morgan Rielly but id literally drive Brad Treliving off a cliff if he traded Mangiapane for that return.

Don't think it was Riellys fault at all for that PP failing, he's an elite passer and has good offensive IQ
