When healthy, Murray is a super underrated, bona fide middle-pairing defenseman. Hopefully he stays healthy for at least 3/4 of the year.

when he is not injured he is super good if he stays helthy then he can be a middle pair and a good one at that at worst he a bottom pair guy.

solid move. Avs needed a 5/6 guy for the 3rd pair. Top 3 Locks of Makar Toews and Girard. You can rotate any of the 3 into the 2nd pair and make up the 3rd pair in EJ, Byram, and Murray. Thats a pretty fluid Line up

Great move by Murray. #2 LD opened up with Graves leaving and he signs a cheap 1 year deal to prove himself to the league for a bigger contract next year.

And the avs get a cheap #2/3 LD.

Interesting way to look at a d core, instead of pairs you are thinking top 3 and bottom 3. Never seen that before ...

Avs have been like that for a while, they really don’t have set pairs, makar and toews as as true as a constant pair that the avs had, things changed constantly

Maybe if he can string together 2 seasons without being made of glass he can get a longer deal.
