They move Dumba next summer and theyre fine
No they are not. It just creates another hole in the roster that needs to be filled.
$81.5m
-13.7m dead cap
-10m Eichel
-$19m Brodin, JEE, Spurgeon
= 39m left and 16 roster spots
-$11m Foligno, Talbot, Hartman, Kukilov
= $28m left for 12 roster spots.
-$2m ELC Addison, Boldy
= $26m left for 10 spots.
-$6m Greenway, goalie KK raises
=$20m left for 8 spots.
These are basically locked in contracts that won't be moved.
Kaprizov hasn't been signed yet, and no point in getting Eichel if Kaprizov isn't here. So I'm going with $8m for him.
This leaves $12m (if Dumba and Zucc are dumped for no money coming back) to fill all these holes (not even including a pressbox guy or two players)
Boldy/Eichel/Kaprizov

cheap rates: a 3C is $3m, a 2nd pair d-man is $4m, low end 3rd line wings are $2m. I don't see any the rest of MN's prospects being ready to be more than roster fillers in a season. The cap just doesn't work to make a team that can compete for a Cup. If the team can't compete for a Cup then there is no reason to trade for Eichel. They can not compete for a Cup and keep their futures just as easily.
