Eichels trade value isnt at eklund alone???? This may be the actual stupidest response i have seen on here and ive seen some bad ones.
Think it’s more deep than that.
Like Eichels value is obviously multiple high quality assets - but currently I would not move Eklund for Eichel.
Not because Eichel;
A) isn’t worth it (he is)
B) Eklunds better (he isnt)
C) Eklund is more valuable (not really)
The rationale I think (at least from my own opinion) : is that Eichels injury is way to risky and gone too far. Buffalo has poorly handled the situation and Eichel and the Sabres haven’t done anything to better Jacks health.
Jack wants a “never before seen” surgery (in pro hockey) and the Sabres want fusion (not very appealing as well). I’m on Jacks side kinda but he could honestly get worse or not play this year; or blah blah blah.
I don’t think Eichel isn’t worth a lot. But I don’t think from at least the Sharks perspective it’s worth losing Eklund. With the amount of large contracts we have (which losing Vlasic in this trade is insane I’m disregarding that aspect - the Sabres never do that, even with Eklund or Merkley that’s a terrible offer to both take Eichel and lose vlasic).
Eichel I hope gets traded ASAP so he can start his rehab/ surgery, but not to the Sharks hopefully.
