The only trade that might be crap is the Hanifin trade. Anaheim trade is fair if Manson and Rakell are 1 year rentals. Forsberg trade is fair for a rental as well. You think you’re gonna get much more than a good roster player with term, a 1st, and 2 good prospects for a rental?

The GM can’t control injuries. If the Leafs win that series, they probably end up in the finals - making the trade worth it. People that know anything about hockey understand why Dubas made the trade. Unfortunately because of circumstances, it didn’t work out. This doesn’t mean he’s going to get fleeced. He’ll pay what’s necessary to improve the club.

Ok so a third line player who is over paid with term in Kerfoot, not worth much maybe a third to the right team. A first that should be expected to be pretty late in the draft 3 years away. 2 "good" prospects that will be hard pressed to make it to the nhl, let alone be impact players. Doesn't matter if he's a rental Forsberg is an elite player who Nashville would rather hold onto. You can add all the random prospects and draft picks you want but unless you send back some high end talent in the trade, it will never happen. I'm talking Robertson, Sandin, and maybe amirov but he's such a wild card right now. Then you want them to retain salary with that.
Hanifin trade you have a late first and two B prospects. Calgary needs Sandin back in that deal.
Nashville needs Robertson back for Forsberg.

Problem is trading Hanifin does not make them better. They are not rebuilding. They believe last year was a fluke and will be contenders. Noah stepped up his game last year and was their top D man. They have a pair of kids they like behind him but are not ready to take bigger roles.

If Reilly were a RD, it would be a better deal. But he isn't. And the Ducks don't need another late-20's LD because they already have Lindholm, who's better than Reilly, and Fowler. The Ducks have many good LD prospects (Zellweger, Thrun, LaCombe) so this trade would likely create logjam at LD in a couple of years.

The Ducks are rebuilding right now and don't really need immediate help. Rakell and Manson should be traded for picks and prospects. But I understand your point of view. I just think it doesn’t make that much sense for the Ducks.
