Players can ask r all they want, only few "overpaid" in this flat cap league. Lots of UFA Dmen next season, Kberg may not have a lot of leverage. If Dallas wants to "win" this year, just hold onto him and don't worry about free agency .

Appears that I'm in the minority, but I would give Klingberg $9M without really even batting an eye. I try to get him around what Miro is making, but if he demands $9M then I have no issue signing him to that contract. Locks up one of the best play-driving, puck possession RD in the league & solidifies the Stars top pair for the majority of his contract. Dallas is also going to have a ton of cap space to sign guys like Oettinger, Robertson, Gurianov, & leave them with enough to still potentially make a splash in the UFA/trade market next offseason.

My main sticking point is age. He wasn’t doing us any favors when the ink dried on the last deal. We don’t owe him anything. Nill gambled on him being good and it paid off. The same gamble didn’t pay off on Eakin. Eakin didn’t say hey sorry I’ll re sign for 750k after that deal is up. Nothing against Klinger I think he is an amazing and extremely important part of this team. I know I’m being difficult over not a huge difference, but if he wants Miro money I think you try to get term down to 6 years. It’s kinda like Suter’s fourth year. I don’t like it but I got over it. If we give John 9 million for 8 years I won’t like it but I’ll get over it
