I was thinking a 1st and high prospect. I just dumped these salaries to show they leave the roster. But like an normal post it gets bombarded with nonsense

While the value might be okay if you add a 1st and a high quality prospect, it's still not a trade the Devils are likely to make - not before the trade deadline. Barring another top-4 defenseman coming into the Devils, we'll go into the season with:

Graves - Hamilton
Smith - Severson
Siegenthaler - Subban

And we'll be happy with that top-6. Besides, we have no need for Dermott, he's no replacement for Severson's spot on the roster.

We might be interested in Kerfoot for center depth, but given that he spurred us once, probably not, and we're not going to pay much to get him.

Well the problem I see is that the devil's will likely be bad again so why not move players coming close to the end of their deals after spending 9 one one. Who knows

(1) Severson is two years away from UFA, not that close
(2) Subban is a UFA in one year, so if anyone is going to get traded, it's him; we'd rather keep Severson for the long haul
(3) We're not trying to be bad right now, so we're going to keep our roster players and make trades at the TDL if it turns out that we're bad despite our efforts
(4) Teams do need more than one defenseman
