This is all false information. Roster minimum to meet league standards is 18 skaters and 2 goalies (in fact multiple teams have been over the cap with that roster size and went less skaters and still played regular season games) - you do not have to have 23 players. It's usually used to help when injuries happen and the team is on the road but it is not mandatory. Teams have carried 20 skaters in the past and been fine as a way to help with cap room.

The minimum roster requirement is 20 players per the CBA. However, this GM still wouldn't work because he's over the cap. Can't call up a replacement for an IR injury. Even if it was cap compliant (say at 81 million), he has no replacement players so they'd have to play shorthanded. This is something that most people on here don't seem to understand. I see GMs constantly that are right at the cap with only 1 or 2 replacement players. While it's technically legal it's extremely risky.

You are correct. 20 man roster. Last year due to some short term injuries and sickness Vegas played a game with 10 forwards and 5 defensemen and two goalies. This was all due to the fact that they were at the cap.limit and had no space to call up replacements. So yes a team can play with less than a full squad, if they have no cap space.

That being said, Wings are not shopping Bertuzzi, but if a team calls they will listen. But they are not trading him for that return. 1st is is not even compatible and 2nd it involves and interdivisional rival, which makes it even more unlikely unless there is an slight over payment, which this clearly is not.
